Re: Dividend increase Good on you GI!As one of my second-tier core holdings I appreciate being able to depend on the dividend and, moreover, depend on an inflation (or inflation and a bit) increase year on year - subject to a major crisis preventing this. Dividend cover should aim to be x1.1 in my opinion (or better). But the rate of increase has slowed (perhaps due to you Grey!) and the 4.1% increase this time is probably more than covered by the sterling slump. Guitarsolo

Re: Dividend increase Yes, I did write to them last year to suggest that they should moderate the rate of increase, because there was the real risk of eating into capital. Theyve done that and they should be able to top up reserves, a bit.My AAIF have had a fantastic run up........

Re: Dividend increase Grey: Thanks Henderson, I don't know how you do it........What worries me is that they shouldn't be doing it! Still, you've got to hope they know what they can afford and are confident re the future. The sterling slump will certainly have helped. Guitarsolo - don't look that gift horse in the mouth

Re: Dividend increase Neither do I but weaker sterling will help.Love the quarterly dividend into my SIPPDeep

Dividend increase Nice increase in the quarterly dividend from 4.9p to 5.1p. Thanks Henderson, I don't know how you do it........

Re: Keep holding Yes, i have a sizeable CLIG holding too, for emerging market exposure plus huge dividend....

Guitarsolo 01 Jul 2016

Re: Keep holding Thanks Grey, I'd agree, and add CLIG to a list of worthwhile far east based funds. The dividend could do with being better covered but, as you point out, increasing EPS in Sterling terms will provide for that somewhat. The long term decline of sterling looks likely on a 5 year horizon - so pick up earners of foreign currency (particularly USD) on the dips. Not sure 310p is a dip though. Guitarsolo

Keep holding HFEL and AAIF holdings represent a considerable proportion of my private wealth. I topped up my HFEL recently. AAIF has risen strongly in the last few months.S E Asia is still fairly valued, the currency is in our favour, the Bank of England is relaxed about the further decline of sterling, the DPS of S E Asia holdings are better covered by EPS, there are more high yielders out there. All of these things make HFEL and AAIF strong Holds for me.I'm less keen on IAPD. I used to be a holder, but the selection criteria tend to pick up some slightly duff stuff, in my opinion.

Re: Sound Long Term Hold Sorry, my last post was addressing Devonplay, not TS

Re: Sound Long Term Hold TS, agreed it's definitely a good idea to own assets in foreign currencies while GBP gets smashed to pieces. However, forget ISF and go with UKDV

Re: Sound Long Term Hold I moved a number of my income ETF's into IAPD on Thursday. If the gains remain firm, I'm sure I'll be using the "income" to buy, over time, IUKD and ISF, especially ISF if I'm honest.DL

EM Gets interesting I'm a long term holder showing a small loss, less than they yield.I'm hopeful that might get pushed back into a positive as UK interest rates drop, and the FED defers rate hike.Could this be the time to add EM income and recycle the cash flow into ISF.L?Has the mouse turned again and is getting ready to roar?If the 5th largest economy falters, could Asian be re rated as the engine of growth? In all that red on Friday, EM, Latin America and US small companies showed green in my portfolio.DL

Re: Sound Long Term Hold The rout.... well I managed to sell some shares at a 66% overnight loss ---- how ? well I watched the referendum coverage until about 1:30, it was clear that it was bad news and I set up some market sell orders before going to bed. BIG MISTAKE --what happened.... the market opened with no buyers so my shares sold for 66% loss. the end of the day the shares were only 33% down. So any buyers doubled their money. Of course what I should have done was ..... I'll remember next time the British electorate make such a monumental error..... by which time I will be 6 feet under.

Re: Sound Long Term Hold British Land surely stuffed today; Land Securities not far behind ~15% off.Mind you, they both had an excellent run Previous Friday-Thursday; LS down ~7% over the 6 trading days. The banks did a lot worse:Lloyds down 20%Barc -18%However.....HSBC down just 1.1%.Which tells me something about Asia v UK equity performance.TS

Re: Sound Long Term Hold Furthermore, FTSE 100 closing at circa 6185, so nowhere near the pre-Brexit lows. The BBC talks about a rout. Anyone seen where it is??? Yes, in my British Land
