Re: Half year resuts Hi Devon, good to hear from you. I still do two days a week out in the fresh air, volunteering for the NT. Good company and good for the spirit, if unpaid.I wouldn't worry too much about being paid, I haven't had any earned income for 12 years now, but my dividend focused investment strategy has continued to increase my earnings. I've yet to draw from my SIPP except to help the kids buy houses. After a pretty routine job in the private sector, I'm amazed to find that investing really can be good for you, as long as you are very patient and don't go chasing blue sky. This continues to be a really tough time to invest. The S&P is off the Richter scale, but just won't give way. I continue to use GuruFocus to suggest where in the world to invest.I've had a big reward from AAIF, JEMI, FPEO and MYI as trusts, and BEZ plus HSTN continue to fill my equity dividend boots. I've brought in NRR and APAX, but I'm less sure about them, especially APAX. My little holdings in CLIG, AIR and AV have done fine.I've got one or two names on my watch list but nothing much to jump up and down about. I spend my whole life awaiting a fall in the market. I'll post if I buy any. My top two holdings are HFEL and AAIF. I have some KIT and EDIN, but post Woodford they are doing less well, so the old dog did have some life in him.All the best and kind regards, Grey.

Re: Half year resuts GreyHeld these for 7+ years and like you I am happy to continue holding. Gives some diversification to my portfolio and a forward yield of 5.7% or therabouts.Deep

I have been watching... ...this one for a while in the hop of a drop as a buying opportunity. Hah!The income looks good but every time I look at it the SP has crept up some more - now 20% over when I first considered it.The old adage that the best time to buy is when you have the money may not be so wrong!GLTA

Re: Half year resuts Hi Grey, hope you are keeping well.I had a little top-up of IDVY the other day. Did you have a little Le Pen excitement. I have to admit I find her quite exciting. I'm not sure about her politics, but there is something about her...I've been distarcted lately looking for a new job. I had a little one working with a charity that met my day to day bills and allowed me to invest my equity income. I've got to find an alternative. Not easy when you are out in the Devonian sticks like me!I'm still holding these and have recently addes to RGL,Raven Russia, VIN, IDVY and ISF.Global economy feels ike it's still recovering, and getting more in synch, so I've taken opportunity of any sell offs.I'm still keen on EM, Europe and UK asset backed....just not the S&P. Even more than ever it has to come with reasonable div.I'm all for holding this one.DL

Half year resuts Sensible half year results. I was beginning to wonder if these had topped out, but now I'm not so sure. They still feel like they have gas in the tank to me, despite an incredibly overvalued S&P.I'm happy to keep holding......

Re: HFEL year end My apologies Henderson, it is actually 26%, annually! And a 343% gain in the share price.......blimey.......

Greyinvestor 16 Dec 2016

HFEL year end Watched the AGM video. It's the end of a great year for the trust. Hefty dividendsand a strong move upward in valuations, partly due to currency translation. I have now held the earliest part of my stake for 18 years, and have added to it steadily. It is my largest holding by far (AAIF being the second largest, and a recent addition). The yield on my very first purchase is now 22.5%, annually!Well done Henderson. A great year.

Donald Trump The theory goes like thisonald Trump wants higher interest rates. They may bankrupt the USA but they help the little guy who voted for him.Higher rates mean that money moves into the USA, from elsewhere. Also Trump plans import tariffs on the third world. So money leaves the third world and China. Hence HFEL going down.To my mind it's a load of baloney, but I hope it happens. I'll buy more HFEL,MYI and JEMI.

Re: Sensible results So why is it down 3.5% today?

Greyinvestor 11 Nov 2016

Sensible results Reading the year end results, all looks good. A great year and a steadily increasing dividend. Hold.

Google finance p.s forgot to say that I have all my prices coming up in a Google Finance portfolio. The software is a bit buggy if you have more than one portfolio, though. It's free.......

Re: Price Change I use Stockopedia, very good for ordinary shares.I have noticed with HFEL that because the NAV is published late in the day, you have to be cautious about trading early in the day. This applies to other ITs too....

Re: Price Change I'm seeing a massive swing through my portfolio overnight, some times in the region of £10k.Other boards have comments about incorrect prices. They seem OK during the day, but overnight.....I checked my online portfolio, iii, against the actual value of my broker(s) holding(s) the other day (using a snap shot just after 4') and the brokers showed £4k more. Yippppeee! When I trade I look at the price here, google finance and the brokers quote, I haven't spotted any great difference. So maybe it's just an overnight issue?Someday I'm going to invest in proper software. I have a 20yr time frame (that's when I will be retiring), so maybe it would just be a waste of money. Not that I've got much in the way of reddies, I'm afraid if you can be an investment addict I am one, so I never have any brass. HahahaDL
