Q1 Trading Update This update should not come as a surprise to followers of this bb!A very bullish statement - note their stronger finances means that they are negotiating an "upsize in their banking facility" also "the Group is in a very strong financial position from which to self-finance further opportunities and cover the dividend"The B

Hummingbird Liberia Dugbe Gold Hummingbird Resources have just issued their Q2 2018 presentation.[link] 10 outlines their view on the development of Dugbe. One might also note that HUM are now in the formal production phase of their Mali deposit and all seems to be going well there. That is very important as they are now generating lots of cash that gives them much more flexibility to consider developing Dugbe. My take is that HUM's priority 1 (apart from production) is to extend the life of mine by converting discovered resources to reserves, and by further exploration around their mine. However, Dugbe remains a serious contender - but nominally would be a big mine. I suspect that HUM will now do more exploration in Liberia chasing up promising sites identified by earlier surveys (I think that the total exploration budget is about 15% of income). I am wondering whether HUM might start Dugbe as a smaller mine initially but with potential for significant upgrading. So much depends on the price of gold staying above $1300oz and to some extent whether there are any new nearby discoveries in Liberia that have a higher gold content than Dugbe. The B

Largo Q1 (Vanadium Royalty) [link] impacted in Q1 by an unexpected downtime. However it still had high revenues helped by the significantly higher price of V2O5 ($13.6/lb) than a year ago ($5.15/lb).The outlook for production looks good. Exploration has commenced but it is too early for any results. The B

Narrabri Thermal Coal Prodution Figures Results recently out - a bit indifferent:-[link] production in-line with previous statements:-"NARRABRI MINE Whitehaven 70%ROM coal production for the March quarter was 1.219Mt, 11% lower than the previous corresponding period.Saleable coal production for the quarter was 1.149Mt and coal sales were 1.141Mt for the quarter.ROM coal production at Narrabri in the March quarter was constrained by two factors. AFC gearboxes on the longwall suffered mechanical problems, which reduced production for the period. Secondly, localised weighting events slowed the retreat of the longwall. As a consequence of the March quarter production delays, longwall production in LW108 panel is now expected to commence in July.Production guidance for the mine for FY2018, is expected to be in the range of 6.1Mt to 6.3Mt ROM coal which is in line with guidance provided with the half year results. Production guidance of 7.7Mt ROM coal for FY2019 remains unchanged.Roadway development for the March quarter was 3,679 metres."The B

Don't Forget Nickel and Cobalt Shugg1e - I think that if you read the previous posts that you would find the answer why APF went up yesterday! Now APF have potentially a very large interest in nickel and cobalt:-[link] price of nickel is still well up on this time last year:-[link] price quoted is very volatile but is currently shown as $14,795 and must be near to the year's high. This article just out today clearly shows interest in nickel and cobalt by the Chinese:-[link] April 18 (Reuters) - China’s Beijing Easpring Material Technology Co Ltd is looking for additional nickel and cobalt offtake agreements to sustain growth in cathode materials production for electric vehicle batteries, its general manager said on Wednesday."The B

News Whats caused the massive rise today?

Re: V2O5 based nano composites What you say is true Buzz; also V2O5 is in demand for storage batteries in particular, used with solar and wind farms. I am into BMN which is producing V2O5 also, and we've been motoring the last week or so on the back of renewed interest in southern Africa where BMN is producing. Vanadium is the new Gold!

V2O5 based nano composites Just scanned through a recent scholarly article:-[link] sure if others can read it as I have accessed via my university's web link that gives me access to such papers. The bottom line is that V2O5 is likely to be used shortly in high performance electro chemical storage devices, it can be used as an effective cathode for lithium ion batteries and there is scope for further break throughs with V2O5 batteries. In simple terms V2O5 is looking like a very good bet for use in future batteries and in turn give a high demand for the V2O5 from Largo - and in turn a good royalty stream for APF. Phew!!I notice a good rise in APF today - perhaps helped by he latest news on Chinese growth rate being higher than expected. The B

Largo to Boost Production!!! [link] news:-"Enhanced production rates will increase monthly production at the Maracás Menchen Mine to 1,000 tpm of V205, being a 25% increase from nameplate capacityManagement believes total capacity could be expanded by an additional 100 tonnes to 1,100 tpm of V2O5 with additional operational improvements to the Kiln refractory"I read this as excellent news for APF - higher production equates to a higher royalty!Especially as V2O5 price is strong at about $15.65lb:-[link] B

Oddments Update Just back from a trip to India. I particularly noticed the huge amount of infrastructure building going on that would require large amounts of steel - something that I have been droning about for ages. Secondly there was a large newspaper article about how Indian coal was not being mined with proper compensation - ie it was being mined without meeting the full costs - so Indian coal will become less competitive. Now the price of coking coal seems to be stabilising in Australia - but still very good prices, albeit there is a cyclone about:-[link] also caught my eye is the strengthening price for vanadium - now $15.65 in Europe and strong in China:-[link] has today announced finalising of its banking needs - so should be financially sound for its future plans:-[link] B

Re: News I am not surprised at the reaction. The company is awash with cash which is, of course, great.; but the depreciation charge on Kestrel does take the shine off the performance. It results in profit before tax lower than the dividend paid out and a reduction in reserves. But it is good step in the right direction. What we could do with is a transformation deal which I think is unlikely - unless the additional retained broker promoses something curious.
