Update [link] Based on this, the profit growth was greatest at Costa and the Premier Inns business saw a fall in profits compared to last time. This is probably why it’s down over 3% this morning. The 4% rise in the divi is more than affordable. Games

Coke is the real...buyer Kool_Keith: What I meant is I was actually looking forward to owning ‘costa’ shares and WTB shares. That said I briefly read that £3.9 was higher than the expected value and could lead the way for Premier in to change by (and I’m winging this) selling the freehold and moving into a franchise business returning even more of that lovely cash of ours. Are you holding/buying or bailing out?.. I’m holding. Thanks KK… yes, I was happy enough with the idea of owning Costa shares too. But there was always the possibility it would attract a bid from one of the global consumer big-boys - it’s a great brand with a decent global presence, albeit still in fairly formative stage. And ultimately, we are getting nearly £4bn, as opposed to shares in a business likely worth around £2.5bn as a separately quoted entity? It would be perverse indeed for any WTB holder to find any negatives in that… I too will be holding on to my shares in what will doubtless be renamed Premier Inn plc in due course… a great, well-invested brand with a strong position and decent growth potential - plus a newly strengthened balance sheet. No issues for me here! I will continue to monitor and contribute on here whenever I can… I am no fan of the new site, it doesn’t work for me nearly as well as previously, and I know I am not alone there. But there are also other reasons keeping me more distant than previously, to be fair - nonetheless there are enough of the old posters still active - and adding value - to motivate me to do my part in keeping the old ship limping along!

Coke is the real...buyer Hi Bill, was only a brief (even for me) comment yesterday while waiting for an op. What I meant is I was actually looking forward to owning ‘costa’ shares and WTB shares. That said I briefly read that £3.9 was higher than the expected value and could lead the way for Premier in to change by (and I’m winging this) selling the freehold and moving into a franchise business returning even more of that lovely cash of ours. Are you holding/buying or bailing out? I’m holding. FYI good to see a post from you Bill, much missed.

Coke is the real...buyer Kool_Keith: So much for a split or the 2 companies. It IS a split of the two companies… and quite an effective (and for shareholders, very profitable) one!

Something's going on ... Just a matter of waiting. Sold out today at 4678. Nice profit.

Something's going on ... Anyone know what has been happening last few days, or has beer gone out of favour?? Regards Robert

Uncle_Doug 16 Jul 2018

Something's going on ... Good to see a rise today when nearly all the rest of the portfolio is down. Bargain at £40. Low pound will help hotel business and bidding war for coffee sell off. £45 is on the cards, just a matter of when.

Re: Something's going on ... 70p divvy tomorrow so expect an SP fall. Buy today if you want to get divvy! The spikes recently seem to be due to the activist sharks circling and large volumes of buys. There are grounds for a future bidding war brewing up for Costa with several players wanting a piece of the cake. Also there's plenty of rumours of interest in Premier Inn so don't rule out a bid coming for that too. I predict this SP is going to get very hot over the next few days/weeks/months. SP of £45 coming soon and I reckon could go as high as £60. Very good value right now. Please excuse all the puns.Over to you numberbiter ...

Hardboy 22 May 2018

Re: Blackrock Blackrock had near enough 5% before, so I doubt the small increase in their holding is the reason for the spike.

Whitesilver 22 May 2018

Blackrock It seems Blackrock has over 5% of the shares, which means that 15% of the shares are now owned by 3 entities that believe there should be major changes made in the company, namely the separation in some form or the other of Costa and Premier....

Re: Something's going on ... Wow! I'm seeing spike High today of 4573p on LSE. Anyone know why?

Uncle Doug 22 May 2018

Something's going on ... ...I don't know what but there have been some huge spikes and fluctuations around 2pm-3pm today.I imagine some massive buys are going through but WTFDIK.

Uncle Doug 30 Apr 2018

Good Value SP at highest since June 2016 and before that December 2015. WTB continuing to show strength - good momentum. The sell off of coffee is attracting buyers. Last week's results were also liked as the SP has improved 5% since then. 70p divvy coming next month. Onwards and upwards.
