Dividend Increased by 18.1% I've lost count of the number of times that Questor gets it so very wrong. The results out today show increased profit and a whopping 18.1% rise in the full year dividend from 7.2p to 8.5p - fantastic.I will most certainly be adding to my holdings as the sp weakens due to article 50 nerves etc.My rule of thumb is always do the opposite of what Questor says, and that little nugget has worked for me time and time again. Telegraph- Questor "Saga investors growing greyer in long wait for investment returns: Three years after making their stock market debut, shares in Saga have accelerated with all the pace of a Stannah stairlift. So much for chasing the grey pound. This week the company will try to persuade the City the best is yet to come. Alongside full year results on Wednesday Saga is holding a capital markets day. Chief Executive Lance Batchelor, a slick marketer who has built a career flogging mobile phones and takeaway pizzas, has already hinted that his masterplan involves drilling deeper into its database to boost earnings by targeting high value customers. Saga sells insurance and holidays but offered the carrot of expansion into other business areas. Directors salivated over grabbing a slice of the £14 billion wealth management market and the £5.7 billion spent every year on private home healthcare. Fast forward a couple of years and those “other” activities, including the monthly magazine, make up just 4% of sales, or £18 million in the first half. The City’s focus is trained on what Batchelor can do with Saga’s insurance arm, which delivers most of the profits. Trading at an undemanding 14 times this year’s forecast earnings, hopeful investors might spy an opportunity. But risks abound, and disappointment is fresh in the memory. Book a cruise by all means, but don’t buy the shares. Sell. Saga at 212.2p. Questor says “Sell”."

Beaufort note out this morning on research tree... "Saga has started the year on a positive note, with all divisions performing strongly. The company continued expanding in its emerging business due to timely investments. Saga maintained its simple, efficient operating model, implementing the Quota Share agreement and the motor panel. The company is progressing well to achieve its target set at the preliminary results on 19th April 2016. We are encouraged by Saga’s progress in the year to date and look forward to further updates."

‘UnwarrantedÂ’ discount Source: [link] insurer Saga (SAGAG) has announced a deal with NewRe that helps cement its broker model.Peel Hunt analyst Andreas van Embden retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 255p on the shares, which rose 2.9% to 195.2p yesterday.‘Saga has announced it has arranged a three-year quota share agreement with NewRe, a subsidiary of Munich Re, to cover 75% of the motor risks underwritten by its in-house insurer AICL,’ he said.‘We see this as another positive step in Saga’s transformation from an insurance underwriter towards an affinity broker model. Saga trades at 13x 2016 price/earnings and 10x enterprise value/earnings, and we believe that the discount to the UK motor sector is unwarranted.’

Re: Price Agreed. Most broker analysts are forecasting SP of 235 - 255.I reckon this is a steady one to hang on to although my personal target forecast is 222.

Re: Price Don't Panic. The price is recovering, it slumped just like the majority of shares due to worries over China and oil prices. It will be back over 200p when the market stabilizes.HnL

New vessel for SAGA Cruises Saga Cruises has ordered an all-balcony ship that will be available to holidaymakers from 2019, to accommodate demand on the holiday company's popular sailings. The new vessel will carry fewer than 1,000 passengers in around 540 suites and cabins, each with a balcony. Around 15 per cent of cabins will be designed for single occupancy and leisure facilities will include outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a spa, saunas, treatment rooms and beauty salon. Saga Cruises currently only operates two ships, the 446-passenger Saga Pearl II and the 706-passenger Saga Sapphire, both of which are set for an eventual phase out. Demand for sailings on the ships is extremely high: they carried around 25,000 passengers last year, with a 75 per cent repeat passenger rate. The new ship is significant as sailings on the two existing vessels sell out far in advance, suggesting that demand from cruisers outstrips what Saga can currently offer. The 55,900 grt vessel that will come into service in 2019 will be built by Meyer Werft in Germany. The shipyard recently put the finishing touches to Norwegian Cruise Line's soon-to-launch Norwegian Escape and is building Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas. A second new vessel may also enter service by 2021. Robin Shaw, chief executive of the cruising division, said that, "There is no expectation that customers will pay more" as a result of the new ships. Lance Batchelor, Saga chief executive officer, added that cruising remains, "at the heart of the Saga brand". Feedback from passenger forums indicated that passengers are keen to maintain the friendly, "one ship for everybody" ethos that Saga is known for. Dining can be accommodated in a single sitting and there will be no exclusive areas on board, or restaurants that charge supplements. Research commissioned by Saga into travel buying patterns of the 50-plus age group found that spending on cruising is expected to increase by 43 per cent to £2.2 billion by 2020. This compares with £1.65 bn in 2014 of £41 bn on travel and tourism as a whole. Nearly a third (32 per cent) of the over-50s in employment said they were planning to increase their spending on cruises post retirement. The Saga Pearl II and the Saga Sapphire will visit 14 new ports between them in 2016, including Holy Loch, Scotland; Boulogne-sur-Mer in France; Pyramiden in the Svalbard archipelago; San Remo in Italy and Southwold in Suffolk.
