Woodford Patient Capital Curse Susan Searle - Non Exec bought 7500 shares this week. She is also a non exec at Woodford Patient Capital Trust - alarm bells ringing !!!She also is on remuneration committee at Benchmark Holdings who's business looks rather fishy to me, as does it's rapidly deteriorating finances. -- Another one of Woody's minnows. She is also founder, supposedly, of Touchstone Innovations (start up investment house) which has a range of engineering, medical and IT companies. They are also investors in Circassia --- aaagghhhh !!!Games

Training This is an interesting analysis of Cohort and the demise of it's training business and the need to shift away from dependence on the MOD in order to survive.[link] this a warning to what may eventually happen to QQ's heavy dependence on training? The points in the aritcle are telling in that it has had to move away from the old business of heavy dependence on training to more software, solutions and security to stay relevant in a modern military world.I think the article flatters Cohort more than it deserves because it does the old trick of highlighting ROCE figures after excluding all the write downs and disposals. Also without the acquisitions the business was declining as revenue would have fallen 14% and profits 13%.The cost of acquiring to plug the revenue/profit numbers is often a mask of more pain down the line.Is there evidence of that at QQ, I dunno?Games -- reluctant watcher of QQ

Valuation Methods Looking at the graph it looks as if the market has no way to value this share:Was it rated a reliable growth stock and then disappointed? But how does that now affect the outlook? Is it that one should not invest in people businesses?I am tempted.

Re: NEW ARTICLE: A share worth keeping an ey... Brilliant !!So the share price might go down, and then again it might go up !!!Such genius can only be applauded.Mind you there is a 50:50 chance of being right or wrong. Or is it wrong and then right?Hard to say really -- perhaps I should draw a chart.Games

NEW ARTICLE: A share worth keeping an eye on "Qinetiq (LSE:QQ.)This is a share which generally moves with quite startling integrity. This makes our miserable forecast of weakness below 219p provoking an initial 195p with secondary, if broken, at 150p as something we distrust. The inset on the ..."[link]

NEW ARTICLE: Trends and Targets for 21/09/2017 " SKY & QINETIQ (LSE:SKY & LSE:QQ) Our last outpouring of misery about SKY postulated, once again, the probability of 919p making an appearance. It not only was finally achieved but unfortunately, the share managed drop signal, very briefly, ..."[link]

Re: What we do I try to avoid selling shares at a loss; the last time was in May 2014 when I sold Booker for a 20% loss but even there I later bought and sold Booker again and made more than my original loss.I have a habit of hanging on to shares showing a paper loss which explains why, of the 29 stocks I currently hold, 13 are showing a paper loss. Even so, I am still seeing 120% paper profit on the amount invested over 18 years.

Re: What we do Heorot illustrates the classic investment emotion cycle.....optimism/excitement/exuberance on the way up.followed by denial/fear/desperation/panic/capitulation on the way down .I should really follow Heorot's example and sell because I thinks we are at the desperation stage right now .

Re: What we do Sold @ 2.24 after holding for 2.55 years. With dividends, I got a 12.17% return (4.77% annl) but it looks like the fall has no bottom.

Re: What we do Correction, I got my sums wrong. 6.14% total return (2.41% annl).

Re: Leonardo - Training Games,"if Leonardo wins the lions share of the contract?"I wouldn't have thought that the Italians would provide much useful training as adversaries against the RAF.What do they say about Italian tanks? Four reverse gears and only one forward gear? Something like that. But perhaps their planes are better. Who knows?Best they stick to music methinks.[link] on the flybridge porca miseria ... QQ is still going down!

Leonardo - Training [link] wonder if there will be any training left for QQ if Leonardo wins the lions share of the contract?Perhaps Meggit saw this coming when they offloaded the unit to QQ?Games

Re: Robot Tanks Games,Reminds me of the "amphibious tank" project that QQ was involved with some time ago.I envisaged a QQ team pushing the amphibious tank off of the stern of a ship and it plunging 20,000 leagues to the bottom of the sea, never to be seen again.LKH on the flybridge
