BOY sharetraders are Mad Bodycote goes ex dividend 6p and the share price goes up. GBP rises by 4% and BOY rises by 7.5% My understanding of this business is that it licenses materials treatment processes in factories around the world. I cannot understand how Brexit could affect that. My trading strategy here is to buy into the dips.

Buying opportunity? What’s not to like about the results?

Tenobas 21 Jan 2019

Buying opportunity? I read the Telegraph article. The Telegraph Questor: steer clear of Bodycote – it’s too exposed to the slowing automotive... Questor share tip: If my memory serves me correctly I generally take the Telegraph views as a contra-indicator. Certainly I didn’t understand the logic … Automotive is only 30% and cars are only 60% of that. I understand that they are not exposed to changes in the powertrain. You say they are behind the curve in strategy … Are they investing too little in new technology? Is being ahead of the curve in capacity reducing it?

Buying opportunity? Tenobas: I would guess that the 4% fall today is due to Brexit… My guess would be that this company is not much exposed to Brexit. No, but it is very exposed to falling - and changing - automotive markets, with the suggestion that BOY is behind the curve both in terms of strategy and capacity.

Buying opportunity? The recent 14% rise in the share price decisively broke the downward trend here IMO. What was it due to? I would guess that the 4% fall today is due to Brexit. My guess would be that this company is not much exposed to Brexit.

Just pulled this from Research Tree... Bodycote delivered satisfactory performance in the first four months of 2016. The company's performance was impacted by its exit from Brazil and the restructuring actions announced in 2015. The oil & gas and industrial sectors witnessed a fall in revenues owing to weak demand. Car and truck revenues surged, with strong performance across North America, Europe and the emerging markets. Bodycote expects full-year results to be in line with the expectations. Although, some of the company's divisions are currently under pressure, we believe it would bounce back to growing terms owing to its fundamentally strong position.
