Re: Anyone know what's happening here? Just revisiting my thoughts from a month ago.Since then the SP has steadied, with a low close of 212, and a mild recovery to settle into a range of 221 to 228.Numis issued a note downgrading from add to hold with a target price of 233. Not sure when the add recommendation was previously issued, but given the SP improvement over the year, and the continuing uncertain political and financial climate, the new caution would seem sensible.I'm still in the red here, having held on through the dip. Still forlornly waiting for ALD management to decide we deserve a dividend. That would lift the SP nicely. As a reminder, from the IPO ads:Aldermore will consider subject to, inter alia, available distributable reserves, paying an initial dividend from 2017, taking into account the growth opportunities available to Aldermore at the time. The Board intends to review, on an ongoing basis, Aldermore’s dividend policy in the context of the delivery of Aldermore’s strategy, regulatory capital requirements and the broader operating environment.Callun

Re: Anyone know what's happening here? LoveMusic,Nothing obvious that I can see. Q1 report in May was positive "Aldermore reports a strong start to the year with continued strong progress on its strategic priorities and financial performance ahead of its expectations."Broker sentiment generally positive, though Peel Hunt downgraded from Buy to Add after Q!, though they left their target at 275. Taken together, there is nothing to suggest that the company prospects would not be good. BOE left the rates on hold again, which is apparently more difficult for the smaller banks than the larger ones.ALD proved sensitive to political uncertainty last year, and here we are again, this time with a hung parliament and the start of Brexit negotiations. Methinks, with hindsight since I am still holding shares, the SP got a little ahead of itself in May, and a profit taking was in order as a risk reduction exercise. Hopefully it will settle into a 215-245 range rather than continuing the plunge. If anyone has anything more specific I would like to hear it.Callun

Anyone know what's happening here? It's a bit depressing watching the share price of Aldermore (All-de-less?) going down day after day. Also because I can't find any news about it, nor comment.I bought a few shares a couple of months ago because it seemed to be a happening little enterprise with plenty ahead, and having been a shareholder of large banks it was refreshing to find a little one to get into. But disappointment ever since. Can anyone shed any light on what's going on, or not going on, and what the prospects of the company are? Thanks,LoveMusic

Re: Patience is a virtue I have two holdings that have both suffered today due to the PE firms that floated the companies making significant placings of their holdings. A hazard of the modern stockmarket unfortunately as most (I haven't analysed it) IPOs are PE firms selling out rather than firms actually raising capital.

Re: Patience is a virtue Possibly back into the red today?Just when you think you are getting ahead, stuff happens:AnaCap Financial Partners L.P., AnaCap Financial Partners II, L.P., AnaCap Derby Co-investment (No. 1) L.P. and AnaCap Derby Co-investment (No. 2) L.P., (together "AnaCap Funds" or "the Selling Shareholders" announce that they have sold an aggregate of 51,700,000 ordinary shares in the capital of the Company at a price of 220 pence per share (the "Placing". DEUTSCHE BANK UPS ALDERMORE TARGET PRICE, SEES FURTHER UPSIDE (ShareCast News) - Deutsche Bank upped its price target on challenger bank Aldermore to 257p from 194p as it reiterated its 'buy' rating on the stock. It noted the shares are up 38% since the beginning of September amid an improved perception of the UK economy and following a better-than-expected third quarter."We think there is still upside from here, driven in particular by falling funding costs," Deutsche said."On today's advertised deposit rates, we estimate a flow cost of deposits of around 1%, compared with 1.8% at 1H16. We expect the majority of this benefit to flow through over the next two years, helping offset asset pricing pressure and providing Aldermore with a stronger buffer against falling margins than other UK peers."The bank said key downside risks include deterioration in the UK economy or market sentiment, slower loan growth, asset price compression, higher loan losses/UK recession, a material fall in house prices and higher capital requirements. At 0915 GMT, the shares were up 3.7% to 236.70p.

Re: Target achieved !! fifi35,Try looking at it from the view of a new investment. Would you be prepared to buy your holding at today's price? If so, consider holding, even adding. If not, because you think the SP will fall, consider selling. If you sell, move on no matter what happens, and enjoy your profit. Once the deal is done just look for the next one and don't look back.Callun

Re: Target achieved !! the never ending dilemma; many posters concur that a profit is a profit.....what I've been doing recently is selling out to match my original investment plus 10% anything on top is a bonus

Re: Target achieved !! Do you sell when you reach your target? I'm up 23% on these and am wondering when to take profit. What is your strategy? Trying to figure out a strategy of when to cut losses, when to hold and when to take the profit. Any ideas most welcome.
