Re: KM,Firefly only cost £18.5 million, so they're not exactly betting farm on it.It looks to me as if everything is fine and this is just a temporary wobble, notwithstanding LG's bot reading!Continuing to hold.LKH in Davos

Market has not liked acquisition of Firefly. I think a lot of Abcam investors are just wanting dividends and not really into the cash being spent.

Sharp falls recently Anyone know why?

ABC expands into diagnostics As of this month ABCAM joined forces with the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), a research institute under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. Under the terms of the agreement, Abcam will develop a range of RabMAb® antibody pairs against targets jointly selected by IMCB and Abcam, to be used by both organisations in the "development of immunoassays for life scientists working in both research and in diagnostics". This multi-year collaboration will develop antibody pairs to some of the most important targets in cytokine research. Cytokines are important in inflammation including arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and uveitis. Developing antibodies that can be used in testing may aid diagnosis and eventually improve treatments. Perhaps simple quick tests will eventually become common enabling on the spot testing (like pregnancy tests).I am excited previously because up to now ABCAM only worked for scientists (est pop millions). Now potentially entering the world of diagnostics could open up many new markets (est pop of whole world is 7 billion). Maybe the National Institute for Medical Research in the UK will agree to similar cooperative ventures before too many opportunities go overseas!

Re: Too quiet - something good brewing And a new Chairman...all set for something?

Eating Grass 16 Jan 2015

Too quiet - something good brewing Just 6 weeks ago I predicted the share price would go over 500 in 6 months. Since then the share price has gone up from 430 to 480. I believe ABCAM will go far higher. The largest business segment is in USA and the recovery there will boost sales. Furthermore the strong dollar will enhance revenue when translated into GB pounds. Also the 2 Chinese offices will help business in the fast expanding East. Epigenetics is proving to be a whole new area of science after researchers appreciate that simply sequencing the genome does not fully explain how genes function.I am very much looking forward to the interim results, normally announced in February.Even more interestingly ABCAM has announced a new adviser and now has 2 corporate brokers. JP Morgan Cazenove is expert in mergers and acquisitions.Perhaps exciting news is coming soon on the corporate front.

Re: Long Time Been in since the start (former employee). Have been selling down the last few days.

Re: Long Time I got in at the beginning when the company floated at under 50p in 2005. Gratifying to see the value go up 10x (my only 10 bagger). Managed to sell at the top of the market when the price got too frothy at over 500 in January this year. Then the price dropped equally inexplicably to 380 so decided to buy them all back again in July.I predict the price will go north of 500 within 6 months. Some directors have large shareholdings that make my puny holding insignificant.Caution - be aware my crystal ball has let me down with many other equities.

Re: Why the rise? "Bear in mind also with the number of products shipped in last 90 days that this will change with the time of year as well as resulting from genuine growth. Expect relative dips over the summer (Europe on holiday) and especially in December for Christmas holiday. Sept/Oct/Nov is a strong period."…………But I think reporting the numbers over 90 days smoothes some of the seasonal fluctuations, especially the short term ones like Xmas.My records show it has been moving up steadily these last 2 years or so.

Re: Abcam moving from AIM to the main LSE ma... Grass,"after Abcam joins the main market - it is just a question of when the inevitable happens."Jeff Iliffe, the head abacus rattler at Abcam, is also a NED at Treatt (incidentally my biggest single holding). Treatt is capitalised at not much more than a tenth of Abcam and yet Treatt is listed on the main market rather than on AIM. I imagine that that will have made Jeff at least consider putting on big boy pants and moving Abcam over to the main market, where all sorts of investors might well be willing to put some money into Abcam shares who are currently forbidden by the rules of their funds from investing in an AIM company.Bring it on!LKH on the flybridge with apologies to pharmaspecialist
