Re: Multiple bid rumours/200p Fabulous speculation by a free lance journalist who obviously needs to feed his web site with his vivid imagination! A GSK competitor? This supposed GSK competitor sacked over 70% of its workforce last year and last month sold the rights to the only drug its ever succeeded in getting onto the market (an obesity treatment) to a Japanese company! They do have a couple of early stage clinical trials running but I doubt they will be in a position to spend around £1 billion buying VEC! The best hope for VEC is for the FDA to give the go ahead for the generic... which is now imminent... not ridiculous buy out speculative rumours by GSK or anyone else. .

Multiple bid rumours/200p Following on from The Telegraph in January.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** ********** *******Vectura Attracting Bid Interest From GSK's CompetitorsBesides GlaxoSmithkline (LON:GSK) becoming more keen at this level, around 78p, the weak share price has attracted more M&A interest for Vectura (LON:VEC).Previously it appeared 200p a share would be required to take over Vectura against competition from the likes of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), Pfizer (NYSEFE) and Bristol Meyers (NYSE:BMY). On the smaller side Arena Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ARNA) may want to gatecrash the party. The fundamental buy argument here which the potential bidders are backing is the way that Vectura is cash rich, debt free, and with potential consisting of the group£s technology and drugs pipeline. The strategic interest for GSK's competitors is that they would not wish the UK giant to get a sector edge over them via Vectura.Given that this is relatively small company around £500m - even a 100% premium is only pocket change for one of the multinationals. The implication is that £1.50 may now be the price than is too good an offer for Vectura shareholders to resist.[link]

Reason for battering... this could be the reason... From a FiercePharma article........Despite its powerful presence in Washington, D.C., pharma took a surprise hit last week when the Senate's budget deal forced bigger contributions in Medicare Part D's coverage gap. But most drugmakers won't take much of a hit, analysts said Monday. Who will? Companies heavily invested in diabetes and COPD.After running the numbers on the budget deal—which boosts drugmakers' share of the Part D "donut hole" costs to 70% from 50% beginning next year—analysts came up with an average loss of 1% off of earnings per share. But the average is just that, and companies whose meds are heavily used by Medicare patients will take a bigger loss, Bernstein analyst Ronny Gal wrote in a Monday note.Overall, the bigger Part D burden doesn't "appear to be a significant concern" for the drugmakers his team covers, Gal said. But diabetes and COPD drugmakers could see a larger hit, he noted, even as they've already been battered in recent years by payer cost-fighting tactics. Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk and Sanofi have each seen sales suffer as insurers pressed for bigger discounts, and GlaxoSmithKline offered broad discounts on Advair to snag formulary positions.....So, if GSK is offering discounts to stay in front... who would pay the full price for newcomers... Re: Topped up Well irony upon irony! "Peel Hunt today reaffirms its hold investment rating on Vectura Group PLC (LON:VEC) and cut its price target to 120p (from 160p)." Well 120p would be just fine for now!

Re: Topped up CL - bad luck on your part - its never pleasant to see a decision you make undermined, but I think you are right, 'falling knife' seems the only way to describe the anxiety gripping VEC right now. It will bounce as the 'buy low brigade' see a battered stock ripe for a few bucks profit, but unfortunately the volatility may well take some time to work off, once it has hit trading! ATB, and I hope VEC can deliver some good news soon to reverse the fall!

Chicken Lips 14 Feb 2018

Re: Topped up Think we are officially in falling knife territory.Once the fall starts its difficult to pull things back around. Sentiment will drive this lower no doubt as everyone tries to guess the bottom. I thought under a quid looked cheap.

Andy Reilly 14 Feb 2018

Re: Topped up sos - well negative sentiment has got a grip on VEC! It must be so much cheaper to buy out than when the stories of a buy uout first surfaced - it would be a shame if that happened, but that is the way the markets tends to work - I just hope PIs dont get too spooked by the recent fall - its not pleasant, but these Bios are by their nature risky plays! Re: Price hits 6 year low and it's being... DG what a depressing graph!

Chicken Lips 13 Feb 2018

Re: Price hits 6 year low and it's being... Wow. Not sure about taking profits but I got out before I lost out, but at one time with VEC I was way ahead of purchase. I think more importantly it's about how they have got into this position. TWo great companies make one big turkey, it seems criminal that this has been allowed to happen. Complete And utter mismanagement but what gets me is what or more importantly where is the good news to come out of the merger - the combined synergies that are delivering. There are always shorters but sentiment is being driven by lack of news.

Andy Reilly 13 Feb 2018

Re: Price hits 6 year low and it's being sho... dg - well sentiment has taken a real hit, and the shorters have sunk their teeth in big time - its the old problem of sentiment feeding on itself, and its got pretty low in the last few weeks. Lets just hope that a bounce is due, but it needs something pretty good to lift sentiment now. Well done taking profits with VEC - so often folks get seduced by a stock when it is doing well and dont take profits - on the whole it makes sense to take some kind of profit, but it doesnt always work (...and I think I have mentioned my inept trading with OXB... you win some you lose some!!! I remain philosophical, and just hope VEC can build back! ATB

Price hits 6 year low and it's being shorted Well the price has fallen below 80P ,Last trade:79.59Change: -1.75 (-2.15%)The last time it hit this price I purchased quite a few, and then sold them at £1.68 a few years later, leaving me with just my original holding left which I brought for just 65P.Now I'm fortunate in so much that my profits over the years of trading VEC, mean I can't loose here ,but I must confess things are looking decidedly dodgy now ,how ever I would like to buy more at this price ,but as nothing seems to stop the slide ,not even the buy back has helped to push up the S/P. I also fear that if this continues VEC will fall out of the top 250 shares in April ,and if that were to happen, then I'm differently out ,as that would put the S/p under even more pressure. According to short tracker the following companies are shorting VEC .and the total shorts =2.53% of VEC share capital 26 Jan 2018 Algert Global LLC 0.60% 0.10%; 1 Feb 2018 GSA Capital Partners LLP 0.68% -0.11% ;15 Dec 2017 JPMorgan Asset Management (UK) Ltd 0.75 0.07% 19 Jan 2018 Macquarie Funds Management Hong Kong Limited0.50% 0.01% Total2.53%19 Jan 2018BE HAPPY DAVE
