Recovery Play ? ( Dec 2018 ) Got it spot on. 12% increase in SP today should have backed my hunch. Clearly benefitting from loss of TC competition & now hold more or less a monopoly on the UK package holiday market bar Jet 2.

Recovery Play ? ( Dec 2018 ) I believe next TUI update is due 11th Feb. Going to be interesting to see how much they have benefitted from the reduction in supply following Thomas Cook demise which has enabled them to increase holiday prices quite significantly. Guess the downside is the continued absence of the Boeing 737 MAX.

Recovery Play ? ( Dec 2018 ) TUI… XXXX Dual listed might be affected if no deal brexit negotiations .

PHILKES 28 Sep 2019

Recovery Play ? ( Dec 2018 ) There is no doubt TUI are milking it following TC collapse with holiday prices gone up 50% plus since. With 19 million customers a year the issue with TC was debt NOT that people no longer want package holidays. I would expect a significant positive impact on profit at least in the short term with reduced supply & increased demand.

Recovery Play ? ( Dec 2018 ) TUI… XXXX Thomas Cook went into administration today . This one went back to six month high of 900p

Recovery Play ( Dec 2018 ) Well, Thomas Cook’s woes seem to have affected the markets view of the whole sector negatively, but recent comms from TUI suggests that they’ve not suffered in the same way, and they still expect to be increasing EBIT DA at ~10% in the short to medium term. So, despite the annoying tax situation of the divi, I recently decided to buy back in ( at prices between 1100 and 1150p ) with a hope of seeing some recovery in the next 12 to 18 months. If, in that time, the sp recovers to 1400p or above, then I’ll be happy enough, but I doubt I’ll be divi dodging this time round ! BB

Withholding Tax It looks about right Philkes, possibly a little on the low side, but, if you stick your numbers into [link] then it’s about the same order As far as I know, you can’t claim the 15% back because that’s covered by the tax treaty between the two countries. In other words, the UK and Germany agree that 15% is a standard kind of rate for taxing divis so they assume that both countries would, as a minimum, tax at that rate. The fact your holdings are in an ISA is probably just ignored under these circumstances. If you can find a way of getting the other 15% back somehow then I’d love to know how ! BB

Withholding Tax Total Dividend over 2 tax years was £949.62 with total tax paid £250.45 (which is what I was expecting) but received around £90. So does this look right? Is there no way of reclaiming the other £160? (The shares are held in a share ISA).

Boring_Bernie 10 Jul 2018

Withholding Tax The £90 might actually be right. If I remember rightly then you only get back part of the ~26% back, and 15% or so can’t be claimed back because of the terms of a double tax treaty we have with Germany, so you end up with just over 11% back. So, if you paid ~250 Euros in tax, then you’d get back ~110 Euros, which works out at about £95 at current exchange rates. For the life of me I can’t find anything in my file to this effect, and google hasn’t helped, but, when I just read your post, it did spark off something, so I don’t think I’m talking complete tosh. I’m still waiting for my refund by the way ! BB

Re: Flying Share Price Yep, the sp has motored on since I sold up !Still, I was happy with the profit made over five or six years so no regrets there.I too, am waiting for the normally oh so efficient Germans to pull their finger out, but it'll be a nice surprise when the money finally turns up

PHILKES 03 May 2018

Flying Share Price Well the TUI SP is continuing to fly ahead now over 1700p and showing a great profit on my NET purchase price of 200p. Good job they are in my ISA!Still no further update from the German Tax authorities re my tax claim back in September 2017.May just chase them up again as I got the impression they were around 12 months behind in making payments.
