Long at 198.50 Hi Ripley, Maybe of interest, declared major short positions on TSCO came down to 0% last year. Always a positive sign. Shorters close for a few reasons, including targets met, improving data or that shorted stocks may be close to support levels. They also get some calls mistimed just as anyone else. [link] Also, latterly we’re seeing improving sentiment across the sector emanating from positive data from some major food retailers. Lastly, the very best of luck to you & all holders for a positive Q3 on the 10th! Now that I’m out I’ll be focused elsewhere. I’m unlikely to be back for a while. - Cheers.

Long at 198.50 TSCO… XXXXX. Yes my real share last buy looking OK now the SBs add to volatility and might be good for those who do not mess with it. How long have the professional shorters been about ? And do they disappear as the gloomy predictions do not happen ?

Britexit (Ramsgate-Ostend) stark raving bonkers SaraRacano: I think you´ll find the port of Ramsgate, needs dredging Hi - fully aware the port needs dredging (almost all do in some way). Even when this is done, Ramsgate will only be able to take smaller ships (like the now defunct lines that previously used the port had). At best any movement via Ramsgate will be marginal and is merely a gesture / part of the negotiation farce! JAR

Long at 198.50 El_Kel: JS - you’re doing some some nifty trading to kick off 2019. Congrats! Hi El_Kel, Thanks. Appreciated. Mindful that most of us need at least some luck, frankly, it’s been a torrid time elsewhere across most of my long positions. Worst period for paper losses since I started, though now improving. Though I’m confident they’ll also come good in time, not least as all entries well below L/T resistance levels., it’s always disappointing. I’ll qualify my previous reasons for exiting by adding that had my stakes in TSCO been with real shares rather than SBs, IMO, TSCO’s probably a longer-term hold for higher targets for those prepared to ride out further volatility. However, such is the uncertain macro-climate in UK, it’s hard to be sure what’s priced-in regarding Brexit. Many FTSE stocks could just as easily be much lower over coming weeks, as a lot higher. Regards & GL.

Long at 198.50 jackdawsson: Closed at 208.80. Settled for 10+ pts JS - you’re doing some some nifty trading to kick off 2019. Congrats!

Long at 198.50 jackdawsson: Still one long left at 198.50 for higher targets. Closed at 208.80. Settled for 10+ pts & less than originally targeted due to being away from desk for longer spells & that typically one never regrets booking leveraged gains. Other reasons: the speed of recent rises from sub-190. Q3 results out on the 10th, which can always go either way. Not least, key HoC vote re the PM’s Chequers deal to be held next week. Latter may well see some general reversals in the FTSE, though that’s not a given. No complaints overall. Now out of TSCO, but would be interested again if sub-200 seen. - GLA.

Britexit (Ramsgate-Ostend) stark raving bonkers There used to be a roll-on roll-off ferry (cargo) that used to go from Ostend - Ramsgate the crew were eastern Europeans. I used to be in Ostend some times, I remember the fast ferry from Dover-Ostend but that shut down too! I think you´ll find the port of Ramsgate, needs dredging. The Dutch dredgor that is being employed is going to take at the very least 3 months to do the job. The port could not possibly be ready by the end of March.

Britexit (Ramsgate-Ostend) stark raving bonkers No the ships using Dover are too big to use the facilities at Ramsgate. Jar

Tesco growth forecasts Food for thought? Supermarkets battle over New Year price cuts. That’s bound to bite into future profit margins. Hmmm. BBC News Supermarkets battle over price cuts Morrisons and Tesco join other leading UK supermarkets in cutting prices.

Britexit (Ramsgate-Ostend) stark raving bonkers Dover and Ramsgate are both in the UK. Ostend is in Europe … Hahahaha Some mothers do have them

Britexit (Ramsgate-Ostend) stark raving bonkers Rather the “No Deal” (there isn’t one by the way) preparations are about corrupt Brexiteers trousering taxpayers’ dosh with with scams. Just look many lawyers and so called consultants have plundered the public purse courtesy of this entire unnecessary Brexit farrago. Then there is the matter of the Russian Roubles still to be unravelled. ETC. All the fault of Leave voting clowns such as bonehead sara racano! IMHO, SBK
