Any benefit from US sports betting? After the US Supreme Court ruling that states could legalise sports betting, someone said it doubled the value of top sports teams [link] . I'm just wondering if that might benefit TLA, or if sports betting could have an effect on players' wages, which presumably would benefit TLA. Any thoughts?

TLA is this week's "Market Minnow" On the Evening Standard site, [link] a little research, to me it looks like the company has racked up a lot of debt and not got much income in the here-and-now for it. I suppose it depends on how you calculate the underlying income.Hargreaves Lansdown [link] gives a PE of just 4.63, at Sell:21.00p and Buy:24.00p. But that's historic, and I don't know what it's based on (maybe "Headline" earnings, though I can't be bothered to check).

Anyone else holding these shares waiting for some sort of announcement or have any information as to what is going on?

Company Results! "near to being substantially complete" as opposed to unsubstantially complete. Odd choice of words, they are either near completion or not!. They should have sold out to APCC when they had the chance. Am sitting on a large loss here. Once they have published the accounts I think I will bail out. Had high hopes for this one post turning down APCC's offer but someone has turned the light out at the end of the tunnel.

Re: Results Hi Steve, been out all day and I am bailling out tomorrow and will take a look at other opportunities including you recommends. I had big hope for TLA and while I will make a few bob out of the buy out I can make more elsewhere overy the time span. May even revisit XLM as they have done me well in the past as has Porvair which is a really well run company. Brexit is a concern and I am in the out camp for a number of reasons. Oil companies could be a good short term investment as the prices creep up, or gold with all the uncertainty going on globally. Good to know you and good luck for you future investments. All the bestFrank

One Rat Less!! Sold out at 55.5p

Re: Results Hi Frank,I think that there could be a significant clawback as I don't expect there will be many in the UK who will want AAPC shares. It's certainly not Michael Ashcroft's style. Also the time-scale before receiving the cash is too long for my meagre profit. I was expecting TLA to be around for a longer time and to build a substantial empire but hey ho there's always a new opportunity, especially with the oil price as it is and the possible effects of Brexit (here's hoping for a No Vote!!) Anyway, I'm out!! I'm looking at buying RDSB and PMO on weakness - the former as a solid oil play with a good dividend. As an aside, have you looked at MRL? Another Ashcroft initiative. They've recently taken over Swift Fire Extinguishers so the price jump has already happened.Best Wishes,Steve

Re: Takeover by AAPC Hi Steve, You figured it would go through and you were right though the offer was increased a small amount but notsure it was enough to warrant delays in pushing it through. In two minds about selling as even if it is scaled back am in for a bit of a bonus but I could probably do better things with what I have already made as Q3 seems quite distant.I will go for the cash if I do hang around, have no interest in US shares. Did not expect anything less than the directors making a mint out of it but that's the way the cookie crumbles in business these days. Are you cashing in and moving on or hanging around for the payoff?Frank

Takeover by AAPC Hi Frank,AAPC are going ahead with the takeover according to Share Centre. No increase in the sp since the deadline of 21st April was passed. The fact that the sp isn't higher might be an indication that the cash offer of 61.5 pence will be scaled back on the likelihood that most people will prefer cash to AAPC shares, especially as TLA's directors got them buckshee!! Might be worth taking the money and running before the deal goes through. Shame as I had high hopes for this oneSteve

Re: Results Hi Steve, I saw that there was a bid on the table and hoped the recent results would have pushed the SP higher forcing AAPC to make a larger bid for TLA. Agree the long term potential is excellent and they should walk so it will be interesting to see what comes next Thursday. AAPC have only been on NASDAQ since may last year so still is a fledgling company and I too have no interest in their shares.Frank

1947MGTC 13 Apr 2016

Amendment Sorry, it's 10 AAPC shares for every 111 TLA shares - still of no interest to me!!!Steve

Re: Results Hi Pirateer,There's a proposed bid by a US firm called Atlantic Alliance Partnership Corp which offers one AAPC share for each 111 TLA shares. On that basis TLA is valued at 65 pence per share. The alternative to taking the US shares is to opt for a cash payment of 61.5 pence. This is why the sp is stuck below 60p. AAPC have until 1700 hrs on 21/4/16 to either make a bid or walk away. I would prefer them to walk as I think the long term growth potential for TLA is far better than 61.5 pence but I expect that the deal will go through.Steve

Results Are excellent (again)Don't quite see why this SP is where it is at, definitely under the radar and a keeper for the long term.

Re: Article The one thing you always know about Messrs Ashcroft and Wray is "....you never know!!" Ashcroft once had a company called "Onesource" which closed on the Friday night at around £8 per share and opened on the Monday following at £42 per share. (He had sold it as a loss making company but with tax credits). I've been a follower ever since!!Worth building a bit of a holding for the long term if you come across any money down the back of the sofa!!!After all, "you never know!!!DYOR etcSteve
