Re: Henderson Global Re Henderson Global stake circa 29.5%: Can't think of any other reason other than an attempt to take SGI private or to obtain board positions and have a strong influence on running the company. Either option would be good news. Someone bought over £60k worth today so I suspect news in the coming weeks.

Henderson Global has built a 29% stake. Antbody got any ideas? Chance this will be be taken private?

Re: Value Get rid off the dead wood bean counters and other wasters in the business and leave it to those with the expert knowledge of coins stamps and collectables to carry the business forward - an iconic business with a solid future. Keep the right people - get rid of the wasters !!

Re: Value Thanks for your comments SASA

Re: Value I'm not a holder of these, even though I've been a stamp collector / philatelist since 1975.What I've learnt over these past forty years is that stamps as an investment are very illiquid / difficult to shift UNLESS there's rampant inflation to support growing speculative demand for this type of material.Twice before to my certain knowledge, SG and several other stamp dealing firms have embarked on 'investment schemes' / a 'portfolio service' of these, supposedly uncorrelated, alternative investments and most went bust. SG very nearly did the last time this fad was in the ascendency and here they are again facing the same problem. Their catalogues prices are always way above mkt levels (50% higher generally) so I hate to think what their stocks are really worth in the present climate. In answer to the question posed, I think you need to be very careful here, given the faulty business model, so, unless a bid is tabled 'out of the blue' I can think of many better alternatives than this, even now. Hope that helps the unwary.....sasa.

Value So are these shares worth buying at 10p?

NEW ARTICLE: Should You Take Part In £13m Rescue Deal For Stanley Gibbons Group PLC? "Shares in rare stamp and collectibles firm Stanley Gibbons Group (LSE:SGI) fell by another 12% this morning, after the group said it would raise £13m by issuing new shares. The new shares will be issued at 10p per share, a massive 56.5% discount ..."[link]

Appalling The management here has ruined at least three quality business - Noble Investments, Mallett, and that icon of GB, Stanley Gibbons. And let's be clear there is no certainty they will get the resue rights away. Noble should be refloated and SG should be sold to the Chinese.

Re: New Value Placing @ 10p why are the shares at 20p +

Re: New Value According to Simon Thompson of Investors Chronicle there are currently 48m shares in issue with a net asst value of £81.9m. so post equity issue there will be 178M shares and a NBV of £94.9m (less expenses of the issue) so an asset value of 53.3p per share. Anyone agree/disagree?[link]

New Value So 130m new shares at 10p to pay off a lot of the debt. ~50m shares in issue already so 180m in total at 23p gives a market cap of ~£40m.Probably about right. I would have sold these already if I held them but at this price I reckon it's probably worth hanging on for recovery now.

Re: 10p So there will be 60 million shares in issue at 10p which values the biz at £6 million. Simply appalling.

nk1999 11 Mar 2016

10p RNS says "Further to the announcement made on 4 March 2016, the Group confirms that it is very close to concluding the terms of an equity fundraising of approximately £13 million by the issue of new ordinary shares at a price of 10p. A further announcement will be made in due course. "So they are unable to raise funds at anywhere above 10p? That is the worth of business in the eyes of large investors, and so agreed by directors?I guess the SP will be reaching around that level soon...nk
