Todays rise of 3% (at 130) Apologies if I've missed something - but any clues as to the reason for this rise?

Re: Interesting reaction Hi Games, in those days, when you bailed out, they had some good businesses, but they sold them to finance their failing education business. Throwing good money after bad seems to the strategy, With the shares going ex dividend in a couple of weeks I expect some people are buying the shares at the moment to collect, i doubt though that they will be able to get out in time to make it worthwhile,

Re: Interesting reaction "Perhaps it keeps falling because they haven't sacked Fallon."LK -- Not only have they not sacked the ex TV salesman lookalike, they gave him a 20% pay rise (see link below), couple that with the 40% pay rise given to Ian Conn at Centrica, who can't even remember that you entered an order -- they lose them in their system - and you begin to realise that the whole pay and executive system is warped and unrelated to the performance of the companies or their executives.Because without doubt Pearson and Centrica are two of the most poorly performing companies (and I don't even refer to the share price) and poorly managed in the FTSE.If I were still a shareholder, and thankfully I luckily bailed (quick check) at 1135.1p on 15th October 2014, I'd be setting up a petition to 1. stop the pay rise and 2. to get him sacked.[link]

Re: NEW ARTICLE: With inflation on the rise ... Inflation fuelled by a thriving economy is completely different from a inflation caused by a weakening currency. Why do journalists treat them as the same?

NEW ARTICLE: With inflation on the rise should investors be buying value or growth? "Value investing requires patience and discipline - attributes that those who follow the strategy have needed in spades over the past decade. It has been a tough period, with value underperforming growth most years since 2007, but in 2016 a ..."[link]

Re: so... the dividend Gatherer, you correctly specified the next dividend to be paid, namely 34p per share. This was declared on 24 February, goes ex-dividend on 6 April and is paid on 12 May. I expect the price of the share to fall by at least 34p when it goes ex-dividend, As for speculation about future forecast dividends I would not waste money on a 'paid for services'. The next dividend will be deoendent upon the next full year results. I believe 28.1p to be an optimistic forecast. Only time will tell.

Re: so... the dividend You can also find dividend details by clicking on Analysis (above right) then selecting Fundamentals, then going to near the bottom of the page.

Re: so... the dividend I use a "paid for service" that give me the 28.1p forecast but it is not a reliable figure, it is what it is namely a forecast.Gatherer

Re: so... the dividend Thanks - I did read that but misunderstood what dates they were talking about.... divi for 2016 *was* flat at 52p I misunderstood and took it as being about past payments - not about the ExD payment due in 2017.I did understand that the 2017 divi is in the air - where did you get the 28.1 figure from please?

Gatherer 02 Mar 2017

Re: so... the dividend They gave it out in the recent results RNS or you can find it for any quoted company at www.upcomingdividends.co.ukGatherer

Apostrophe 02 Mar 2017

so... the dividend I find the pearson website section for financial dates and investors particularly useless....I bought in mid-Jan when the SP plummetted on the dividend warning, so have they since clarified/confirmed what the Divi is actually going to be?Apologies if I'm being dim Thanks!
