Results Agree with Hardboy's summary. I think it is much the same as a year ago. Good results but sp way overpriced except on a very long term view or if there was a takeover. Tiny yield but basically an attractive company.

Re: Finals I agree, satisfactory results. Interesting that Chinese production is quite small ( see the split of turnover by origin - Asia). The 'exceeding market expectations' bit was in the pre-close trading update which basically told you to expect these figures. I would think this Co will benefit from Brexit; it's very global and export dominated, but goodness knows what Trump is going to do, fortunately I note that they are a net exporter from the US.I wont buy more, it's my second biggest single Co holding and I'm really looking for reasonable dividend income!

Re: Finals Results look encouraging. I particularly like the comments re China which should show strong growth over coming years. Maintaining my core holding but, I too would look to add should there be a market fall re world politics. (sp 445p)

Finals Another good year. I'm a bit disappointed that I have not spied the phrase "ahead of expectations" anywhere in the release, but this does not detract from another set of strong results. Sales up 10+%, Profits up 10%, Dividend up 9%, Net cash up. Investing in future growth with the Chinese factory beginning to make +ve contributions. The New Year has started well with a healthy order book.It is possibly over priced at the current sp, given these figures, but since the financial crisis they have continued to grow successfully year on year with inflation busting rises in sales, profits and dividends, and the indications are this will continue. They are market leaders in niche, growing markets. So the price reflects future growth; which, taking a long term view, should make this price look cheap in a couple of years. I'm sure that some time in the not to distant future, probably because of something Mr Trump says or does, there will be a sharp market correction in share prices, which may allow a better entry point, but I'm holding for the long term.

Re: Trading update Hardboy, a good idea to take the top off and look to diversify a bit when you have a stock that has performed like this one. I had a similar situation with Rotork. Good luck.

Hardboy 12 Dec 2016

Re: Trading update I did sell 1/8th of my holding on Friday for 443.5, It is still my largest single holding, but of a similar size to others now. it also means that through 2 sales since my original purchase I've withdrawn more than my original investment (excluding dividends.) So I'm playing with profits now, which is always a nice way to be.

Re: Trading update Fog: "I will continue to hold "I'm actually likely to sell some. Like you I have a great deal of confidence in the future, but it is my largest single company holding and it may be prudent to balance my holdings slightly.

Re: Trading update Yes, looking good. Now a ten bagger for me. I will continue to hold notwithstanding the recent strong performance (sp 440p)

Re: Trading update Absolutely - it's almost boring how often that phrase is used when Porvair are announcing an update. One interesting issue is their cash. 5 years ago they had net debt of around £10m, slowly that has been turned around to a net cash position of £13m.I hope they have some suitable investments (acquisitions, or new capacity, or new markets) to obtain the fabulous returns they keep producing, but if not it could be a special dividend might be on the cards.

Trading update RNS today 'results expected to be above market expectations'. Again, you might say !

Re: Closed above 400 very small volume though !

Re: Closed above 400 Closed above 400p again, this time to a new all time high.Presumably profits are going to benefit from weakness in Sterling.

Re: Why the big fall on 26 Oct? No idea. This does often has quite a big spread, and there is usually a low volume of shares traded. Last Friday there was a large number of shares traded, (About 15 times the daily average.) I'm not sure if it is anything to do with that. But no significant news affecting the business performance; and I've not noticed any broker downgrades.

The Dutchman 27 Oct 2016

Why the big fall on 26 Oct? Anyone know the reason for the large fall on Weds 26 October? The market went down a bit , but no-where near this much !
