Questor tip Tipped today on the basis that Asian growth prospects not in the price when compared to AIA which the Pru tried to buy. Buxton of Old Mutual and Mark Slater both bulls of the stock at 1852p and fund managers with form. Share price slightly higher initially but now unchanged on the day, but the stock has had a good run this year.GIven also demerger/disposal talk of the UK annuity biz it seems a decent story to me and a way to ride the growing affluence of the increasing Asian middle classes.
Pru & Texas I don 't know to what degree the Pru is exposed in Texas but it could be an important lesson to all of the need to be insured. Could be an opportune strategy.
Re: Pru demerger? FT carrying the same story[link] of positive news and activity in the life/investment sector at present, I'm holding PRU, LGEN, SL & RSA all bought post Brexit and all showing good gains but I think more to come.Opportunities in Asia, particularly for PRU and SL and the UK pensions area will support moving forward. Assuming that is that Trump and Kim Jong Un don't decide to play their version of an ashes series.H2
Pru demerger? Prudential to form UK 'super-group' as it merges insurance and fund arms :[link]
NEW ARTICLE: Prudential's UK merger sets tongues wagging "LSERUrudential's Asia business was behind a cracking set of first-quarter results in March which triggered a wave of profit upgrades. And it's the Far East that's driven a surge in profits in the last three months. Plans to merge M&G and ..."[link]
Results Typically impenetrable Life co accounts but whichever way you look at them and even on a constant currency basis they are delivering great growth, especially in Asia. I am holding less than I would like so have added a few, now at 2.7%, will look to add more in any dips.H2
Re: PRU Break-up Speculation FT Very interesting. Personally I think the "duller" UK business and the higher growth Asian side make quite a good mix, and must partly explain why these are almost 50% up on my most recent purchase in April 2016.And a further 33% rise would be most welcome.
PRU Break-up Speculation FT [link] piece on possibility of ditching some of the less exciting UK business in favour of more exciting Asian opportunities. This statement catches the eye, "On a sum of the parts basis, a break-up valuation could be a third above todays value, but you would also have to look at how much capital they would have to inject, Have moderate holding of these, attracted particularly by the strong Asian business. Have had a good 12 months, if FT is to be believed, with more to comeH2
Re: NEW ARTICLE: Chart of the week: Buy, sel... I have never understood how the "tram lines" are assigned. Is there any mathematics behind it or is it all a black art?I was far more impressed by seeing the Pro logo on the back of riverside benches in Phnom Penh.
NEW ARTICLE: Chart of the week: Buy, sell, or hold Prudential? "Is it prudent to take some profits in Prudential here?Since at least July of last year, I have maintained a bullish stance on LSERUrudential. No, my conclusion had nothing to do with the operating earnings outlook, or the increases in ..."[link]
Market waking up? Still cheap.M
NEW ARTICLE: Chart of the week: How to play this successful trade "Trading Prudential was very prudentIn my COTW of 18 July last year, I suggested LSERUrudential was an excellent buy candidate. Not only were the chart patterns appearing encouraging, but sentiment had turned bearish as the company was ..."[link]
NEW ARTICLE: Prudential is top pick after profits beat "With LSERUrudential shares near a record high, the insurer continues to reap the rewards of targeting Asia's rapidly growing and underinsured middle classes. It also justifies our faith this time last year that Pru shares were likely heading ..."[link]
Re: Excellent results Picstloup,Agree looks very good overall, Asia excellent which the key pointer to the long term potential of PRU.A few areas struggling like Indonesia but seems they planned ahead on that.Solvency II over 200%.Happy holding PRU seems they are delivering in the key areas. Market seems to like good results for onceH2
Excellent results Asia really motoring, which flatters the results in sterling terms, but still excellent, with constant currency profits still up in the teens and above % and UK profits and assets up 8% and more. Divi up 12%. I'm about 150% up on my initial stake several years ago, and 28% up on my top up last year. Happy to hold.
