have I missed something? Market drops 1.5% PHNX climbs 2%. AML influence or something is afoot?

Re: Budget changes? What about all the extra work involved in administrating this? At the end of the day Phoenix and other annuity companies will be handing cash back to pensioners and no longer have that money to manage so the business must wind down.

Re: Budget changes? Surely there would be positives in this. Many old annuity contracts will have been made on out of date longevity assumptions and will be quite onerous now. Any chance to exit could be beneficial.

Re: Budget changes? But with annuities dying a death, where are companies like Phoenix that rely on annuites going to make money? Look what happened to Partnership Assurance last budget day; share price halved. Same thing could happen here once it gets focus.

Re: Budget changes? FS companies will ensure by lobbying and threats of legal action that any retrospective legislation introduced by the government cannot adversely impact them. If anything it will be viewed as an opportunity to assign transaction fees that make them even more money - win / win.

Re: Budget changes? Sold mine this morning. See it as 'insurance' against PHNX doing the same as PA. did on last year's budget! PHNX is at a high anyway and around most broker targets. Results Wednesday should be good but I reckon that is already factored in the price.

Re: Budget changes? @loadsofdoshAm I correct in thinking that anyone who cashes in their annuity earlier will be taxed which may be as much as 40% for many? It is not the manna many expect.Like you, I am not sure what the effect will be on Phoenix as a consequence of the further changes announced today@oldjoeThanks for the graphs

Budget changes? Will the proposed change to allow pensioners to cash-in annuities affect Phoenix? Seems like more and more business id being taken away from pension companies.
