Re: CME/NEX merger hold or sell ?? At current CME SP and exchange rate the offer is worth 1007P/share, the question is do I want to hold a NYSE share in my currently UK only SIPP.I don't think I do.So do Ia) Sell now at sub 1000b) sell after the dealI will watch the CME SP and exchange rate for a few weeks until I decide.

CME/NEX merger hold or sell ?? What do you guys think of the offer ??Compared to the typical pre bid rumour price of about 650p over the last 12 months its clearly a good offerCompared to the current market price of about 970p, I'm not so sure; a good selling price or should I buy in to the joint venture ??On the positive side both companies are supporting the deal on the basis of the benefits/synergies of the merged/combined operations. The potential for the (merged) CME share price to continue to rise (as it has done for the last 5 years recovering from market collapse in 2008)). UncertaintiesShare price exposure to £/$ exchange rate (£ was about 1.6$ in 2010-14 dropped to a low of 1.2$ post Brexit and now about 1.4$; where next ??)Don't think CME is listed on the UK stock exchange so not sure what effect this has on ease/cost of trading the sharesCost/difficulties in reorganising the merged companies may outweigh or at least delay the benefitsImpact of Trump nonsens

Re: 30% increase in share price Re the sell now or hang on question.. Do you need the money now? If not I'd be tempted to say sit tight. I've been in NEX and formerly ICAP for well over a decade and Spencer has a knack of making money. Sure there have been dips but he's repositioned the business into something a number of players appear to want. Even if a bid doesn't materialise (which I doubt) I'm going to sit tight and buy more if it slumps as a result. If a bid does come in then it's going to be somewhere around current share price or north of that. I'm biased perhaps - I've for so long that selling now seems madness. Good luck with the decision!

Re: 30% increase in share price It looks like it might be worth sitting back and wait to see how this bidding war develops:[link]

30% increase in share price Tempting just to take a nice profit and sell ??Umm or should I just wait and hope that a deal goes through at some higher price and/or other prospective bidders join the auctionOdd that there's no active discussion already but anybody out there with a rational view on the most sensible way forward (like probability that a deal will go through or not)HOLD to give a 90% ?? chance of a deal and a 50%?? gain versus SELL now with 100% chance of a 30% gain

Re: Base cost apportionment for CGT I requested it via a secure message from one of the Brokers I use, namely Hargreaves Lansdown therefore its probably best if you do the same unless your Broker is ii and if that's the case you will be wasting your time.Gatherer

Re: Base cost apportionment for CGT Thanks Gatherer - that's brilliant. Is there an 'official' source you got that from, I always like to have a print out of CGT position from the company's mouth so to speak..Thanks

Re: Base cost apportionment for CGT EverlongershotThe cost price was allocated as follows:59% of the cost price was allocated to NEX Group plc (4 Shares credited for every 7 original ICAP Shares held), 41% to TP ICAP plc (0.467 Shares credited for every original ICAP Share held). Hope this helpsGatherer

Base cost apportionment for CGT Hi - can anyone point me in the right direction for working out what proportion of my ICAP shares acquisition cost to apportion to the new NEX and TP ICAP shares for CGT/disposal purposes? Is the percentage split listed anywhere in the mammoth amount of docs on both websites. Thanks
