Re: Helloooo I did look at the UK ITs you mentioned - thx - quite a few of the major holdings within em are either shares I have held myself or still hold. Being in the UK I can find out a fair bit about the UK smallco sector but I have no real idea about smallcos in Japan or even Europe, ex UK. So that's why I use ITs there....But note Japan smallco still best value!

Re: Helloooo I agree with some aspects of that UK view, partly due to the deliberate industrialisation and asset-stripping that hasn't occurred in Germany. However, despite it the UK has some great businesses and the smaller company IT performance reflects it. However, just checked trustnet this morning and those discounts have now fallen to the 12-13% range from 20%. JP Morgan Japan Smaller is on 14%, so is again the best value!

Re: Helloooo I meant on a macro basis I think the UK is a basket given the appalling productivity and growth...but agree there are great UK companies, especially smaller ones. I tend to invest directly in UK smallcos as opposed to via ITs which I use for Japan, India, US etc. But will take a look at what you mention. Thx.

Re: Helloooo While I agree on Japan, if you think the UK is a basket case, you're missing some of the biggest profits going. Some of the smaller company ITs are up 50%+ since the referendum and yet still remain on near-20% discounts, largely thanks to biased media that ignores all the positive business results, especially for smaller companies. Check out DNDL, JMI, ASCI and HOT.

Re: Helloooo Pleased to hear from someone! Well I bought a few more after the early Feb "correction" - I still think that, generally speaking, Japan may be the best bet of the traditional big economies investment wise. Nowhere near the valuations in the US, not a basket case economy like UK and without the internal problems of EU area. Obviously you need to be in all but I'm weighted towards Japan.

Re: Helloooo Loads further, as shown by the lack of posts on this board, no-one is interested in Japan after 30 years of terrible performance and a stock market that is still well under the 1989 peak. It's only just the other day I saw the first article for years suggesting Japan as a possible target for some of the ISA portfolio. Wait until there are 100 such articles.

Helloooo Anyone there? So pleased I bought into this a while ago. Did sell a fair view after about 20% rise as part of equity derisking last year (wish hadn't) but holding balance and wondering how much further it can realistically go..?

Subscription Shares These expire at the end of this month and have now got a considerable value, as they allow you to buy extra shares at 245p against the current share price of 295p. I'm exercising all mine.On another note, interesting that still the general investing world is unaware of Japan's stock market rise. This and Fidelity Japanese values sit on 17-18% discounts despite doubling in 5 years. On that 5 year view. they now show outperformance against a lot of the European trusts.
