Re: Positive vibes but share price drops... Thanks for that link Doc. I missed that because I've become a bit bored with IAG, but the Aer Lingus deal will involve quite a degree of expense and uncertainty, hence the weak share price. Add to that the FTSE being around an all time high, trouble brewing with Greek debt and another 9/11 on the cards and I'm keeping my Shorts open.

Positive vibes but share price drops...go figure Having difficulty understanding this drop in price from the 600 mark. All indications are that the purchase of Aer Lingus will go ahead but the market doesn't seem to be that positive.A decision will be announced tomorrow (most likely) from the Irish Govt. to support the proposal and IAG are buying AERL shares on the open market... so surely the price of IAG should be rising?Anyone got a theory?

NEW ARTICLE: IAG shares could take off again "After being stuck on the metaphorical runway for a chunk of 2014, LSE:IAG:International Consolidated Airlines Group has really taken off. In just seven months the shares have doubled in value and, although they've since retreated from all-time ..."[link]

Re: Routes Thankyou Dr. I can see you know what you're talking about. I have great faith in BA, the product is good. Flew SIN-LHR-PMI recently and no complaints at all, other than the grub. Same breakfast as in 1984! (Economy)

Re: Routes If it were a case of simply moving one system from one airline to another, you would be right, but the complexity involves numerous systems and applications covering everything from catering to crew, cargo to equipment and purchasing to security. There are also huge differences in the ways of working and supporting the systems let alone the language complications. It will be some time yet before it really works. In BA they have only just about settled the differences between BEA and BOAC - mainly because the last of those who started on those airlines contracts are finally retiring. [link] connection for BKK to TFN via LHR is not the most attractive (given an overnight stop) but should at least be shown as a viable choice on both the BA an IB web sites. Maybe there are just too many other combinations and destinations that the IT staff are working on.

Re: Dividend Ah well spotted JMS. Using 1.37 Euros to the pound and keeping thinking the same gives us 32p per share or 5.9%. Still attractive if, granted, a little finger in the air

Re: Routes Cheers, yeah I tried that approach. Not exactly seamless though is it? Anyway I guess for most it's not a huge issue, I just thought that having the two airlines under IAG it would be a little simpler.

Re: Dividend @FrankersBe careful about currency: WW said EUR 2.2 bn in profit, not GBP 2.2 bn, and the share price is in GBP.J

Re: Routes The canned response to your request on BA.com (we don't fly to TFN ).Try this example on Ba.com ' Plan your Journey 'Country of Departure : ThailandTab onto : Book multi cityEnter departure country Thailand in the boxes enter travel from BKK to LHR 2MAYcontinue next box enter LHR to TFN 3MAYThis should give you a result

Re: Routes Thanks for that Dr. They're kinda taking their time getting that IT issue sorted aren't they?

Dr Trustme 30 Apr 2015

Re: Routes It may well be that both BA and IB are IAG airlines but they do not use the same IT systems (at the moment) so there are bound to be connecting routes that appear 'logical' that do not show up on either's reservation systems. Santa Cruz (TFN) is served by BA as a codeshare on Iberia Express so can be booked as a direct flight from LHR but the connecting flights from BKK is a BA flight not in the IB system.Flight connection are also shown on the best available timings, so there may be 'better' flight alternatives by flying via MAD, for example, rather than waiting for a later direct flight.Third party system show some interesting connections (try Expedia.com)When IAG airlines all operate on the same systems (if ever) then all combinations of routes should be available even if that means IAG airlines are favoured over better connections on other airlines and not so beneficial to the customer.

Re: Dividend I like your thinking Frankers. With today's drop in sp you may want to buy in again,The drop is a little surprising given that WW has confirmed "This is IAG's first ever quarter 1 operating profit in what is traditionally the weakest quarter of the year." and the prospects of a good summer.I shall be buying a few more as this does look a real bargain at the moment and sure to bounce back very soon.

Dividend HelloQuick bit of Maths on a 2015 dividend. Walsh says at least £2.2bn profit for 2015. There are circa 2 bn shares in circulation so give or take a few quid, IAG should make £1 per share profit. Let's say they cover it by 2.5, and pay away 40p to shareholders. At 544p per share as I type, that works out at 7.3% yield. I'd anticipate a 10p dividend and 30p special. It's nice however you cut it. Thoughts?Frankers

Re: Routes Cheers, but Iberia fly LHR to TFN (Los Rodeos the Northern airport). So when trying to book BKK to TFN the obvious routing would be BA from Bangkok to London Heathrow and Iberia from London Heathrow to Tenerife North.
