Re: Woodford's number 30 "you can only store one or two at most downloaded games on a hard drive"Isn't everything moving to streaming with a simple subscription on a monthly basis, in which case people will stop buying content, as is the case with Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, Netflix? The problem with this type of industry is that the changes, even only slight, can render the old model redundant almost overnight, and all those bricks, staff costs and leases are still there.Games

Re: Woodford's number 30 I also think that there are good reasons why not all games sales will be digital any time soon, you can only store one or two at most downloaded games on a hard drive, you cannot share or swap them etc. This would be a good investment if the overall market for games hadn't tanked.

Re: Woodford's number 30 It has no debt and 25% margins so its unlikely to bust which is why Woodford liked it I suspect.

gamesinvestor 24 Dec 2015

Re: Woodford's number 30 Didn't the company issue a warning back in January reporting on price falls eating into margins. With the fall in shop sales supposedly due to old format games going off the boil, are we looking at the next HMV here. Excuse after excuse?I guess at some point it will be pointless to wander into a Game store if you can play online with wide bandwidth broadband and high data rates. Won't the industry move to pure streaming and pay per use?If so then isn't Game doomed in the longer term?Games -- down another 6.25% this morning to 120

Re: Woodford's number 30 i think some short sellers have been publishing analysis that tries to create a narrative that most game sales will be going online. The news this morning plays into their hands although that's not what the company said the problem is.

Re: Woodford's number 30 That is the risk with low margin companies. I'm tempted to buy now for medium term. I'm not sure the update warrants a 40% drop.

Woodford's number 30 This one sat at number 30 in his fund at 0.88% until today.I wonder if there is any merit in holding any retail stocks these days, as sooner or later they disappoint and ususally significantly.Games -- not a Game Digital investor - despite my name!

Good news ahead of results. Good contract win at Bham NEC gaming for 4 days for 3 years.price ticking up.I believe that brokers are a little nervous re new profit warning,(even though there is a guidance out in August 12th!!

Re: New Target 300p I made 18k when we had Electornic boutiqueI lost 25k with Game having sold at over 200p and foolishly rentered at sub 100p and chased downI cant but re live the old GAME deterioration in margins and salesthe 50% drop in sp is very seriousThe people who bought the old GAME outfit have already made millions at the expense of the old investors.. vultures..they shoudl ahve suppoprted the old company!..and I fear Game digital in ntime will face the dreaded high street death (unless they can migrate to web based only!)I have since only invested in pooled funds and have given up individual shares. far safer for me.I wish holders well but for me GAME was an absolute nightmare!
