NEW ARTICLE: Stockwatch: Lock in high yield before this share rises "Shares in LSE:FENR:Fenner, the manufacturer of conveyor belts, hoses and seals, have slumped to about 200p from a 300p-500p trading range in recent years, as deflation has slowed the mining industry. Fenner's "reinforced polymer technology" is ..."[link]

Re: III - Annoying absence of RNS Yes, NK, same for me. Investment Trusts that issue updated NAV values every day are not there either.I have sent iii an email complaint (this morning) but have not yet had a reply.

III - Annoying absence of RNS III Portfolio has not been showing RNS since yesterday (for me at least). On the main Portfolio page it shows the number of RNS statements in last 24 hours just after the "News" link. But when you click on "News" link those RNS are not shown. In many cases I know the company has issued results etc. So the count of RNS on main Portfolio page is correct. But the RNS statements are missing under the News section.I assume it is same for everybody?Cheers,nk

NEW ARTICLE: Fenner: Too many moving parts "The usual yardsticks indicate shares in Fenner are good value, and the company is adapting to severe economic challenges. Forming a view on future profitability is daunting.A share price of 205p values the Fenner enterprise at £632m, or about ..."[link]

Re: Trading Update "So were you fortunate enough to have bought in recently at below £2 ?"No, I'm afraid not. In the past Fenner has been good to me; and I have bought & sold a few times. My current holding has been with me for a while. The commodity slump has gone deeper and longer than I expected, and all the way down, I kept thinking the upside far outweighs the downside. I think it still does; but while I am content to hold, I wouldn't buy again until we see some growth returning to their markets.

Re: Trading Update Hrdby. Many Thanks for the confirmation, so not much time left for buying in to obtain this dividend. Now 8p is a very good yield e.g. for every £1 spent buying Fenner = a fraction under 4pfor the dividend. That is getting close to the exceptional 5.5p dividend paid by Rolls Royce when their share price was 86p all those years ago ( nearly 13 ).So were you fortunate enough to have bought in recently at below £2 ?

Re: Trading Update CW: "they will probably be paying a good dividend that is going ex by 2nd Feb. at a guess and may be 7.5p."Not sure where your info comes from. This is the extract from the Final results in November. (At today's AGM all proposals were passed - though I am not sure I can ever remember a proposed dividend not being approved by shareholders - so the proposed dividend WILL be paid.) "The Board is recommending a final dividend of 8.0p per share (2013: 7.5p) to make a total dividend for the year of 12.0p per share (2013: 11.25p). If approved by shareholders, the final dividend will be paid on 9 March 2015 to shareholders on the register on 30 January 2015. "So to correct you. The WILL be paying a final dividend. It will be 8p, not 7.5p. And it goes ex-div on 29th January, not 2nd Feb.Hope this helps.

Re: Trading Update I reckon the trading update was spot on as the sp reflects Fenner's current position with regard to mining stocks etc. But it was positive and they will probably be paying a good dividend thatis going ex by 2nd Feb. at a guess and may be 7.5p. I can remember Fenner honouring a 4.4pfinal dividend when the share price had collapsed from £2-60 to 36p in late 2008.[link]

Re: Trading Update You were right about market surprises. I think the market expected worse.

Hardboy 14 Jan 2015

Trading Update I guess it is what was expected.ECS - under pressure as customers cut costs. AEP doing OK, but likely to be hit at some time from knock-ons from low oil price. Tighten belt time - cut costs, defer capital projects. They're making the right calls, and ready for a recovery when it comes. The unknown worry is how long the low prices in O&G & minerals will continue. Given how far the share price has sunk, such that it is not too far above book value, and given that profits may be significantly reduced, but still positive, my strategy is to hang on & see things through. I expect another drop today, but sometimes markets surprise me.
