The market hates uncertainty. 0.04034012% of the total number of shares issued changed hands today and the price drops by nearly 5%. It just doesn't make sense to me. The uncertainty over Kitbag is maybe a factor.Come on BOD, tell us what the plans are. Let's return some positive sentiment to the share price.DDP

Re: Increased holding Every dog has its day as the saying goes and LS1 is certainly having his/her day. I find gloating a very unattractive human emotion so as advised by Shorty3 I am applying the 'ignore' button.Shorty3, Fishxx, Parkster etc, I am still receiving you, over and out !DDP

Re: Increased holding ShortyFor someone who has me tagged as ‘ignore’ you seemed strangely interested in me in your ‘where art though’ post of 22 November. It seems you are interested in me when you want to gloat but not that interested when you're wrong. I call that a bad loser. Also, I know how you like to pick up on the mistakes of others, so for accuracy it should be ‘where art thou’.On to the content of your last post and another hammer blow from the Clown Prince of Investment which proves just how little you understand about investing. When you ‘short’ a stock you ‘sell’ the share first with a view to buying it back later at a lower price. The key action is the initial sell that is why it is also called ‘short selling’. I don’t see any response to my question about how your hedging approach works on your ‘larger’ investments. It just sounds to me like you are paying double margin. One day you will just answer the questions rather than the normal empty responses. For now I am off. Despite losing half your money on RRL you seem to be held in blind high regard by Fishxx and DDP. I’d say that I don’t know why but I suspect it is because you are telling them what they want to hear, namely that the large losses they are sat on might yet be recovered. Unfortunately you never explain the basis for this view.I prefer to work to the much more proven methodology of ‘the first cut is the cheapest’, it saves you relying on prayer and luck for things to turn round. See you in the summer when the full year results are out, remember to stitch up the holes in your pockets....

Re: Increased holding DDPYou say that pressing 'Sell' was a mistake........I'd call it a Freudian slip (that's where your subconscious acts for you).....Otherwise, brilliant. I have to admit I laughed out loud at that one!!What a great conspiracy theory, you really do sound like you’re one step from the nuthouse.Have you ever thought about my unusually good understanding of investment methods and research capabilities. Maybe I am the Schroders investment manager who bought a 25% stake in FDL and lost my job when it crashed.Or maybe given how well I know Findel, I am a customer who bought a £500 TV 10 years ago and with interest now owe £20,000 and have had my house re-possessed.Or maybe I am just someone who finds some of these personal attacks totally unnecessary and who is now enjoying spelling out to those who made them the shortcomings in their investment. Better still I managed to make money at the same time.

Re: Increased holding DDPWhy are you bothering to rise to LSpoon1 - his posts have already been proven to be contradictory containing distortions of the facts as well as containing down right lies.Had he have shorted this, or any other stock, he would not have stated that he "sold" 50,000 shares.Even his nick name tells you what he is - "Large Spoon" - he's just stirring it.Just put him on ignore - he has nothing of value to add here.Shorty

Re: Increased holding Of the thousands of investment opportunities in the marketplace you happen to have chosen Findel. Which makes me wonder why. You display intimate knowledge of the company tinged with hope for failure. To dismiss Schroders as "mugs" smacks of unbelievable arrogance. If I didn't know better I would say you were a member of the former board of directors of this company, unceremoniously removed from office by major shareholders for taking it to the brink of bankruptcy in the first place. But what would I know ?DDP

Lspoon1 02 Dec 2014

Re: Increased holding Dear PDD (deliberate in case you think otherwise...)I really wouldn't take a huge amount of comfort from Schroders purchase for two primary reasons1) If a share falls by 15%+ it is bad news. Schroders have bought the shares because no-one else wanted to. It is not unusual for an existing majority shareholder (Tosca or Schroders for FDL) to buy any surplus to stop further declines.(2) Schroders built up its initial stake in FDL at 20p+ (400p+ in old money). It then followed its money at the two rights issues FDL carried out at distressed prices where FDL raised £160m. The 25% holding which it protected would have cost £40m in these rights issues.Add this £40m to the cost of its previous investments and It is fair to say that Schroders has invested significantly more than £43m which is the current value of its 25%.No reading between the lines on this one, just an institutional investor sat on a large loss. I am also not deceiving anyone, unfortunately for you these are just facts!!If you see someone chasing a loss as good news that's your choice......generally averaging down is a mugs game and even for a household name such as Schroders this has been the case for FDL.1SpponL

delta delta papa 02 Dec 2014

Increased holding I was very encouraged to read that Schroders have added a further 380,000 shares to its already significant position. So much for the "significant institutional selling" as recently suggested. More reading between lines that proved to be incorrect.DDP (that is DDP and not DPP !)

Re: Lspoon1 ShortyI had tried not to make any ‘assumptions’ about your trades. My post was based on what you had set out yourself. The only assumption I thought I made was about the value of your initial investment in Findel. You stated you were sat on a paper loss of £120,000 and I used the c80% fall in Findel to derive a £150,000 investment. If the figure was higher then it lowers your return even further, I thought I was being kind to you!!You go on to say:‘I normally always place a short / CFD to hedge my larger investments and therefore have some experience in shorting stocks.’What do you mean by this? Hedging is something you do to reduce future risk and for which you pay a premium at the time. As an example, if I want to fix my mortgage rate for 5 years I pay a higher rate but have protection in the event of something happening which makes interest rates rocket. What is the point in hedging a share investment? If you own 100,000 shares and short sell 50,000 it would be more cost effective to just sell 50,000 of the shares you own. How does your approach work?In terms of my short on Findel, I used two CFD and spread bet accounts. I don’t understand why you think £500 per point is ‘rather large’, the margin requirement was £24,000 in total. This is substantially less than the amount you must have invested in Findel to buy shares. Investing is my primary source of income so I have substantial funds on deposit with several SB / CFD providers and a trading history which makes them comfortable at that level. Please also remember that there has been strong buying support for FDL for quite a while now so a sell order for 50,000 shares does not generate massive interest.

Re: Lspoon1 DPPA couple of points on your post.First of all you refer to my ‘deception’. It do not understand why you believe I have deceived anyone. Please look at the timeline of my posts. I went short on Findel in June 2014. I did not make any posts between July 2013 and October 2014 and, in the very first post I made after I went short, I clearly showed my position with a ‘Sell’ recommendation. You own shares and your posts are generally positive. I am short and have been negative. If I am trying to deceive anyone then surely you must be as well? The point of a board like this is that there will be some who are positive and some who are negative. Both are trying to present their arguments and as long as each clearly states their position there is no deception. Finally, I do have a general principle that I do not short shares as my investment approach is to find shares which are undervalued. Sometimes though you find a share which you think is obviously too expensive and there is better value in it than anything else you are looking at.
