Shore Capital Market T/P 4.55 Arrow Global Group: Shore Capital Markets reiterates buy with a target price of 455p.

Re: Group of directors buys around 2.90 I have a few thoughts after a little research into ARW. I could be showing my ignorance to long term holders or anyone with specialist knowledge of NPLs.(+) The business is in a niche which could support growth for many years, as ARW are small and the supply of non-performing loans (NPLs) isn't likely to dry up.(+) QE and the 'hunt for yield' have been around for years without capital pouring into the NPL market and making it too hard for ARW to get good deals.(+) Buys by executives. I believe that executive or director buys are only a good indication when the buyers know what's going on, and are realistic about the risk and reward. There were buys at Conviviality shortly before bad news, which saw the share price drop 60%. Then the CEO bought, and the (new-ish) CFO bought £120k worth, then the company went bust very quickly. IMO the ARW execs who bought have plenty of experience which should help them to avoid highly over-optimistic buys. See [link] The Return On Equity has been strong, with a low of 16.09% for 2014, according to [link] Leverage below 8 since 2013 is probably reasonable for a financial stock.(-) In the results for the three months ended 31 March 2018, there's a big difference between the statutory loss and the positive "underlying income", mostly accounted for by refinancing costs associated with acquisition. (On ADVFN someone complains about the creative accounting getting worse.)(-) The market could get nervous about populist politics in Italy, and the effect on NPLs (though Greek populists got more moderate when they had power).I was going to include this-) A strong economic recovery could see fewer NPLs, and more demand for them. It would affect ARW's opportunities, but would increase the market value of their NPLs.But, the little evidence I found suggests that a well-performing economy doesn't have much effect on the NPL rate. From [link] macroeconomic explanatory variables do not seem to have a significant impact on net NPLs in Italy. More specifically, I do not find robust evidence in favor of the ‘sovereign debt’ hypothesis. A high level of public debt does not seem to impact net NPLs when a measure of leveraging is included in the estimations. I interpret this result as evidence that the sovereign risk affects only leveraged banks." (Carlo Milani, Nov 2017). It could be different outside of Italy.
