Zy price is up 5.4% for some reason speculators? Or is some news coming out? I got the impression the Tanzanian government were goig to ruin their own economy for very short term gain. Maybe they are a bit more sensible than that...... I hope!.

Re: Not looking good IMHO. nm If you are a pensioner and in cash preservation mode, this stock has too much investment risk. The trouble with socialism is that it only works in public service. When applied to business operations and expecting them to operate like charities, they usually always go bust. Acacia Mining is a proper business, it is not Oxfam or WHO.

Re: After 4 days of talks bought at 179 Pulled out with £20 profit as I am supporting Centamin. I have come to the conclusion that Magafuli may well end up staying with his dodgy dossier on Acacia. I think he has backed himself into a corner and this problem is a long way from resolution.

After 4 days of talks bought at 179 Taken a smallish position. Just a gut feel after 4 days of both those groups talking to each other.

Re: Earnst Young report today And presumably if the country loses $550m by shutting down Acacia, the British Government will then see it as justification to INCREASE aid to the country in order to make up the shortfall. The mind boggles.....

Re: Expropriation risk on level 5 In 2016, the UK was Tanzania's second largest bilateral donor and the Government confirmed its target of GBP 200m in aid to the country. Isn't it time those in power actually looked at where they are giving away tax-payers' money?

Tanzanian team names witheld .......A political and diplomacy analyst, who asked not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the decision not to identify members of the Tanzanian team showed that there was tension and pressure over the matter within the government.......But political science lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam, Mr Richard Mbunda, said there could be concrete reasons for keeping the identities of Tanzanian negotiators secret. He said while Tanzanians had every right to know who their representatives were, it was understandable why the government would want to withhold their identities. “This is a very serious issue, we’re talking about a multi-billion dollar dispute...a lot is at stake here. The moment you make the names public you will be putting them under intense public scrutiny, especially on social media. He was also of the view that the government might not want to disclose their details in order to minimise the possibility of manipulation. “We’re dealing with one of the biggest multinational companies here, and we know how good such people are in advancing their agenda. They might be mingling with our negotiators, but they know little or nothing about their lives outside the conference room, and that could help a great deal.”President John Magufuli said earlier in the year that the leader of one of the committees he appointed to investigate alleged massive fraud in the export of mineral concentrate was approached and asked to doctor the findings. He warned those who were intent on interfering with the investigations to keep off as they were being monitored.www.thecitizen.co.tz/News/1840340-4041610-4wc1lnz/index.html

Expropriation risk on level 5 Tanzania is now on level 5 for expropriation for foreign investors assets with no compensation. The highest is level 7 that will apply if taken out on Acacia assets. Nations with a track record of expropriation in recent years include the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Bolivia and Venezuela. These are usually extreme left wing governments with leaders like Magafuli. Magafuli has been carrying out expropriation in other sectors since June 2016. He is the first Tanzanian President to do this and the population of Tanzanian wants more of it. The short term gain of doing this only ends one way and its usually with several hundred percent inflation. Foreigners are usually vilified in this process.

Re: Talks undeway So the talks seem to have begun. In Tanzania, they seem to begin with big demand and then negotiate down. In the US (remember BP deep water spill?), they begin small, give an impression of some kind of proper legal process, but keep demanding more and more as long as the company can afford the payment.I guess Tanzania will not be as vicious as US. We should no in a few weeks.

If Tanzania is not more reasonable their economy will implode as foreign investment will stop.Simples. Venezuela mkII.All IMHO.

Re: Tanzania violates its own constitution Physical harassment of staff and still no word from the foreign office or UK foreign business institutions. Tanzanzia has been a major recipient of UK foreign aid. No doubt it will continue. Almost laughable.
