Why the drop? Hi ITDYA, thanks for helpful comments. I probably need to trust my initial reasons for buying BCN and hang on in there for the gain that will surely come. It’s disappointing to see the SP fall day by day. There’s always the judgement to be made, is this dip a buying opportunity or is this a falling knife, cut my losses and walk away? JJ

Why the drop? LSE:ABC @john_jacobs6 It dropped because the results were ‘poor’, they look far from great… relative to how good they have been in the past and what was expected I know EPS up 27% is, in normal circumstances, a great number but at 1530 SP 32p EPS is a P/E ratio of 48 - the air is pretty thin up there and you need exceptional results to justify that kind of rating. These numbers do look good in many ways but they have to be better to justify the 1500+ price tag. Any hint of a slowdown in growth and the ABC SP will take an instant hit… which is what just happened. Good results in many ways but not good enough to justify a 1500+ share price. The market was expecting (and had priced in) better. Fortunately (unfortunately?) it gapped straight through my stop so I didn’t get the chance to offload and, after the initial recovery, by the time it had stabilised, it was back above my stop so I’m sitting tight at the moment. Results always have to be taken in context of the share price - excellent results were already (and still are) priced in here. Any fly in the ointment and the shares will take a thumping. Why the drop? Anybody know why the SP has dropped suddenly? The preliminary results look great, divi has increased and xd date isn’t until November.

1300 hit early! LSE:ABC 1400+ now. Still holding but just raised the stop; old rules: run your winners but drag the stop up behind you (and don’t ignore it!). This SP is getting hard for me to justify on even optimistic fundamentals but I’ll stick to my plan. Regards, ITDYA

1300 hit early! Back above 1300. 30%+ up per year recently but I don’t see that as sustainable (hope I’m wrong) and can’t buy any more up here, very much in ‘run my winners’ mode here: holding them, hoping for more but with a pretty tight stop in behind. kilindidni: they abandoned the Horizon bid (at least for now). Re: 1300 hit early! If SP closes above 1286 it will be a new all-time closing high. SP trend for the last 24 months is 36.2% pa. For the last 10 years 24.0%. SP of more than 1470 looks likely by the end of this year and could well be over 1500. Forecast PE of 40.7 does make shares look expensive so any hint of falling growth will hit SP badly. Still a buy IMO.

Re: Wow! I am relatively new to this one but I have a 15% gain over the half-year which exceeds the increase in everything that matters. It all looks very healthy to me but others might see things that I don’t.I would love to see this one grow steadily for many years to come but I expect it will be taken out pretty soon which would be nice for me but bad for the UK.

Results on Monday next Got a feeling from the push up towards 1300 we may just see that level next week. I never thought six months ago we would ever see current levels at present levels. What next ?

Wow! What a stormer! At £12.60 this has just become a 10-bagger for me. I bought at £6.30 before the 5 for 1 split.
