NEW ARTICLE: Could 2016 be an even more challenging year? " Making financial predictions for the year ahead can be a mug's game. Although forecasts are based on what we know today, they can be made redundant by the outcome of "known unknowns", to paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld, the US defence secretary in ..."[link]

NEW ARTICLE: FTSE 100's worst start to year since 2000 "Like the spectacular firework displays which signalled the beginning of 2016, global markets have certainly started the new year with a bang. Re: here we go again... Brave lad.One of the first things I was told when I started investing is that although you may think shares are cheap when they drop by 50%, there is no reason they can't drop another 50%.In AA's case its 80%?.Still worth a punt, but no yet maybe.

Re: here we go again... Brave ? you have to make a decision when to buy in at some stage based on what the NAV & EPS are..that`s what i do anyway if i`m going to hold long term. Have been day trading this due to a good spread between the day margins & have done o.k. when there is a 30p + margin. Can normally come out with a 4% + profit a day after expenses deductions.I do believe that the company are going the correct way to get it more streamlined & have seen the outlook for commodity prices long-term. IMO £ 2.50 looks like a good price to start buying in should it go to that level. You are correct, that it could go even lower, but that`s when a stop loss of 5% come in for me.As always, you pays your money.....

here we go again... Just when you thought it was safe to go out....Chinese market news not good so panic sellers out in force again. Can now see the £2.50 range this week & will be buying in at this price for long term hold...

Re: A TA view on Anglo (short vid) Agreed it's a shocker. Hopefully the month of December was the low point.. A few more days like today will make my holding look a lot better. Held my nerve and added 50% to my holding just below 300p.

Re: A TA view on Anglo (short vid) Who'd be a long term holder here? The chart for the last 5 years is utterly grim. Jesus.

A TA view on Anglo (short vid) After about a minute at the link below. [link] based on its JSE chart so the fiddly bits may not match up that snuggly on a view of just a few days with the LSE's but the trend message will be the same for both. .

Re: is this the bottom? This does have a bit of March 2009 feel about it. <<< MARCH 2016..feels more like it..

General Zod 17 Dec 2015

Re: is this the bottom? This does have a bit of March 2009 feel about it. A lot of beaten up stocks on a low world oil price. May 2009 they had all doubled and trebled.

Re: is this the bottom? Does look an attractive price but they will be selling off a great deal of assets. I would have thought that the cash raised will be to pay down debts. It will be in a lot better shape than before but profits will be a lot lower. Need to look at EPS to give guide as to the SP. This will all be clearer after asset sells and after all debt has been paid off. Very tempted to start buying in now but unless commodity prices improve, then the £10 S.P. wont be in my lifetime again. Could be a takeover target....At least your in near the bottom if you buy.....

General Zod 16 Dec 2015

is this the bottom? I feel like buying for the long term. 3 years time surely this will be back to £10?

Re: Re: [link] enough, but isn't the best time to invest usually when things are a total mess.Maybe a general IT or fund may be a better option or do you think it's best to steer clear of miners, commodities ect for a while.
