Shandon Company To Invest $500 M In African Minerals The Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray has disclosed that the Chinese-based Shandon Company with 25% shears in Africa Minerals Limited has promised to inject $500 million into the Tonkolili iron ore mines. He made this disclosure on Thursday 11th December 2014 at the usual Government press briefing at the conference room of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Youyi Building in Freetown.According to the Minister, officials of Shandon Company recently held talks with Government to address the problems confronting the mining sector with specific reference to African Minerals to prevent its collapse.African Minerals Limited has 75% shares in the Tonkolili iron ore mines.Minister Mansaray said the world price of iron ore has dropped adding that most countries, including China and India, that were giants in the industry, have reduced their productions since they have enough iron ore in store to be sold.He revealed that African Minerals is still operating the Tonkolili mines, discrediting rumors that it has gone into liquidation and intimated that some of the company's shareholders, including bankers, are refusing to invest due to the current trend, especially the decrease in world price of the product for which Government has intervened and assured that the company would soon commence operations.Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray continued that Government considers mining as important to the economy under the Agenda for Prosperity since it contributes about 25% to the economy and also provides jobs.On the issue of London Mining, he informed that consultative meetings with mining companies are ongoing, that Government is looking into the finances of the company and that those found wanting would be prosecuted disclosing that in one of their meetings, officials of London Mining PLC based in London informed Government about its assets and its present predicament. He went on to state due to the gravity of the matter, Government decided to intervene to ensure that the entire process is transparent adding that out of the several companies that bided to take over London Mining, Timis Corporation was the winner after agreeing to the Memorandum of Understanding Government, the Ministries of Mines and Labor formulated informing that the MoU includes reinstating all employees of London Mining. He went on to state that all the terms and conditions remain the same as suppliers, contractors and staff would be paid guaranteeing that Government would protect its citizens.
....grant79 - why into admin..... .....we've gone into C&M, not administration. How could going into administration possibly help FT, SISG or anybody. Frank is paying to use our railway (all explained) keeps a large number of staff employed and the line operational.A lot of you people are so jittery it makes me laugh...we had that nitwit the other night saying that PWC have been appointed, dingbats like Tom Winnifith spouting nonsense......as for me I am here for the long-term. If you really do have 400K in here, then to have left it there as the sp was plummeting, was probably a little unwise.Try and chill a bit.....if you want to see a bunch of crazies...go to the Beacon Hill BB.
What are you talking about? Not been rude just can't understand your last posts ?Who are these people and what release of funds??Thanks
liu......interesting ....SISG raising that amount of cash could, of course, be totally unrelated to AMI. Alternatively, it could be significant and the money has been raised to buy another slice of African Minerals......Let's hope so..
...manu17...sound bite...... ....that's all.....no-one has commented on the article, because no-one is interested, because its the same old drivel re-cycled by you 'doubters'. Best thing fella...and rshah and 4unme is that you value your investment at NIL, say to yourself 'we are all doomed' and AMI and LOND will slip into the sea....then you have nothing to fret about. Meantime, I will leave the management of AMI to Alan Watling and his team, Frank to use our trains and give us some running cost covering income and SISG to come back to the negotiating table......all this beating yourself up will achieve nothing.....
....gotta laugh... ....bit like a thriller this - loaded trains moving in the night, ships at anchor off Pepel, Frank Timis strutting around like Count Dracula...... have to say some of you guys are amazing with the info you decipher....with this level of intrigue, cloak and dagger activity and political machinations......we deserve to succeed...!!
...4unme....you're getting stressed ..........I think you are suffering from cabin fever - try going out for a walk, its a lovely day in the south of England. If Marampa are using our logistics then it will be contractually...not FT borrowing a couple of train sets. The eyes of the world are on Sierra Leone, FT has had to deal with Renassance, GIO (Cyprus), and SISG......he is not going to mess this up, this is long term.Instead, think about the upside.....this has potential still, to go mega........or if you are such a pessimist - into receivership. Let's remain optimistic for now !!........and you have a break from this BB.
.... .5 million tonnes ....that was destined for Glencore before LOND collapsed.....be amusing if Frank has now sold it to Glencore - full circle - as for all the 'pussies' worried about Marampa using our railway...so what !! sounds like a good idea, FT is paying, the trains are moving and the locals keep their jobs. Encouraging news on high quality fines / pellet prices...don't want to be too optimistic but maybe we are at the bottom on I/O prices
