Velocys secures order for biorefinery licence from Toyo Whilst this is good news on one hand, Im not seeing it as an advancement. This first commitment is for a demo plant, which i think is a backward step. We are trying to build commercial projects, not get stuck in publicly funded demonstration projects that don’t go anywhere. Also the renewable jet fuel environment is hot right now, so i suspect at least 50% of this commitment is driven by opportunity to ride the PR wave.

Velocys secures order for biorefinery licence from Toyo This the best news in a very long time. Toyo is intimately familiar with the GTL technology because they funded together with MODEC the Velocys’ 20 bpd demonstration plant at Petrobras back in 2010. Their return to Velocys is significant.

RNS - injunction against Compact I think this stock will remain suppressed until the one of the projects achieves financial close - which i struggle to see happening to be honest.

Altalto technology not announced, but strongly suspected given they appear to be ripping off everything else from Fulchrum’s design.

JAMMY 27 Jul 2019

Altalto technology TRI would be a logical choice. Has this been announced? It should indeed be a carbon copy except that Fulcrum has already built the municipal waste sorting plant. Another piece of the technology Velocys has not talked about.

spannermonkey 27 Jul 2019

Altalto technology TRI i believe. The same gasifier Fulcrum is using. In fact the whole project is a carbon copy of the Fulcrum project currently being built in the US (apart from the FT part obvs). The difference being Fulcrum has been able to raise finance; we appear to be less successful at that…

Altalo technology The placing document has a glaring omission: the technology to produce syngas from waste in the Altalto project. The news release of June 18, 2018 states “Advanced Plasma Power (APP) has been selected as preferred gasification technology licensor for this UK waste-to-fuels project. APP offers an efficient and tested solution for conversion of waste to synthesis gas (for onward conversion to fuels via Velocys’ Fischer-Tropsch process). Velocys will be working with APP during the pre-FEED stage and, subject to appropriate conditions being met, intends to use its technology for the project.” Since then, APP was never mentioned although APP is in administration since December 18. The placing document does not mention which technology will be used to treat the municipal waste and which gasification technology will be used. Although these parts of the project present about 60 to 70% of the capital cost of the plant.

Redesigned website I looked at the redesigned website and came across the oldest communication “Statement Regarding Share Price Movement” from October 15, 2018. Let’s have a look how much progress made in the last 9 months. “The Company continues to drive forward and make strong progress with its Bayou Fuels biorefinery project in Mississippi. Discussions are progressing with a shortlist of strategic investors to invest in the project to fund the development costs to financial investment decision (FID). The team are working extremely hard to ensure a positive outcome to this process and we will update the market once agreements are in place.” o No strategic investor notwithstanding the extremely hard work… “Velocys continues to work with the ENVIA Board, which is developing several promising options to preserve the value inherent in the facility. In addition, constructive conversations are continuing with the insurers, where ENVIA anticipates a resolution in the near future.” o Positive: Received money from the insurers o Negative: received cents to the dollar from ENVIA and left with a ruined reactor and a cloud about the reactor design. “We are very pleased to have British Airways and Shell as partners in our UK waste to jet fuel project and we continue to make solid progress in taking this exciting project forward.” o Solid progress? None in 9 months notwithstanding all activity and interest around the renewable jet fuels. In the meantime there plenty of technology capers on the horizon…

Email today from Ricardo refers to their web page which states: "The Stage Two application deadline was Monday 10 December 2018, 1200 hours. Following a detailed evaluation process four projects have been shortlisted to proceed to Stage Two. All shortlisted applicants will now undergo further due diligence prior to final grant award in Summer 2019. " This was apparently posted in May and verified by them today.

Any news? [link] from another board. Looks like the DFT need more convincing on what the candidates are stating, is viable…

spannermonkey 18 Jun 2019

Any news? …distant being the operative word. Fulcrum have a huge advantage with their BP and JM FT relationship it appears then. With the backing of BP, any issues with the JM FT kit would be supported by BP. With the VLS reactors, we have the backing of…erm…a football club owner? I hope Fulcrum dont turn up on UK shores - it would be the end of us.

JAMMY 18 Jun 2019

Any news? Not yet but they are well connected: bp invested $30M in Fulcrum Bioenergy and together with JM licensed the FT technology to Fulcrum. Shell took an equity position in the Rotterdam project: see [link] Let’s be realistic, Velocys is currently running a distant third…
