Ian Lawson A great shame that Ian Lawson is standing down after turning SFR around and putting the company on the road to recovery and laying down a strategy for the future. I would like to thank him for all the good work that he put in on behalf of the shareholders . Hopefully the new management will now take SFR to an even better place now that the recovery has been completed.

IAN LAWSON Sad to see after a long period of absence due to illness he is standing down fromthe Board and his position as CEO.He came to SFR when the company was in an extreme downturn and his workover three/four years pulled it away from the abyss - thats how I see it as a small PI.

carillion I think they have in the past but they have work with Balfour Beatty who have announced this afternoon that they have made a £48 million provision for work that has been done with Carillion . It will be a long time before this is sorted and cashflow will be the problem throughout the sector ,but it has been on the cards for a time and only hope Severs saw the light early on. Presumably they will concentrate on the orders that are direct and not third party. Every cloud has a silver lining and hopefully the Government might have to come cap in hand to get completion on various projects!

CARILLION DOES ANYONE KNOW WHETHER SEVERFIELD IS OR HAS BEEN A SUB CONTRACTOR TO CARILLION. IF THEY HAVE THEN HAVE THEY BEEN PAID.IT IS STILL POSSIBLE THAT SEVERFIELD MIGHT BE INTERESTED TAKING OVER POSSIBLE SMALL CONTRACTS THAT CARILLION WANT TO GET RID OFF AND THEN ONLY IF THE CJONTRACTS ARE PROFITABLE. sorry this is in caps my mistake. best of luck to all. NEW ARTICLE: Stockwatch: A buy ahead of ratings upgrade "Are investors unduly jaundiced towards £225 million structural steel, construction group LSE:SFR:Severfield? The market appears in two minds: cautious that ultra-low interest rates may be on the turn, and the UK economic upturn since 2009 is long; ..."[link]

Interim Results Positive results and it appears that SFR are starting to turn the corner after years of weak performance. Two clouds that remain is the settlement of the Leadenhall building and secondly when will the chief executive who has been instrumental in the recovery return?

Re: Sold my holding today Just bought after reading the singer report

Re: Sold my holding today Me too, for similar reasons. Had a really good run on this since buying in July, but feel it's risen far enough for the time being.

results I am a holder . The India joint venture could take off in the next few years . It has been a slow burner to date , but long term could provide huge growth. I like to see firms making a commitment for the long term.Sensible geographic diversification is demonstrated----"After undertaking a significant amount of research into the potential market opportunity in Continental Europe we have employed a European business development director based in the Netherlands, who will focus on tailoring our established UK offering for expansion into this market." The weak currency will benefit this effort.

Sold my holding today I sold out this morning post-results (with some difficulty over a number of tranches). There is good news. Cash generation is great, and the divi is better than expectations too. Plus India is finally doing well, and will be boosted by the debt repayment. But the large decline in the UK order book was a big negative surprise. And EPS was slightly below consensus.Forecast EPS growth of 8%-9% per annum is pretty uninspiring for the next two years (forecasts are unchanged from Singer this morning). It's been a great, highly profitable run, but my feeling is that the upside for the near future isn't particularly worthwhile, especially with that declining order book and the shares being reasonably highly rated. Whereas the market could either take against the falling order book, or SFR's sector might stagnate in the current political environment. In which case there's possible 20% or so downside.Good luck all.

Peel Hunt raise target price to 90p [link] building towards growth target, says Peel HuntStructural steel specialist Severfield (SFR) is moving up the stepping stones towards achieving its growth targets, says Peel Hunt.Analyst Harry Philips reiterated his ‘buy’ recommendation and increased the target price from 85p to 90p following a strong second half that means full-year results are expected to be ahead of expectations. The shares were trading flat at 83p at the time of writing.‘Encouragingly, this performance has been matched in cashflow, with net funds at the year end similarly ahead of expectations,’ said Philips.‘Less positive was the news that chief executive Ian Lawson has taken a temporary leave of absence due to physical ill health…[we] are confident that the remaining team will continue the excellent progress towards the June 2016 target of doubling 2016 pre-tax profit of £13.2 million within four years.’He said the targets ‘are simply not reflected in a 2018 price/earnings multiple of 13.6x’."

Re: New highs now, broker update Good to see the share price still rising.N+1 Singer today reiterate their Buy and 98p target price. They've now increased their forecasts for the year ending tomorrow to 5.6p EPS, with a 2.1p dividend.Forecasts for the coming year and 2019 have been left unchanged for now - presumably until after the results are out for more certainty. They also note that SFR will have £29.7m net cash, rising to £40.1m by March'18.
