Re: SCS = SOS?! Time for my annual same old same post! But it’s all very steady as she goes (rather well) here. SCS are ticking all the right boxes & making all he right moves & delivering the results (better than DFS, their largest competitor). But of course it’s pushing water uphill right now due to the v v hot weather over the bank hol (as usual killing footfall) & the brexit hysteria causing housing transactions to flatline (by killing cash based transactions – that said clearly mortgages are dirt cheap & becoming cheaper). So it’s plus ca change … But I’ll just take my +8% dy net & keep an eye on the cash pile (which is about 70% of the sp). The fundamentals are all there. The minute rationality breaks out in terms of economic/housing/brexit policy then these will deliver & shift. There again what am I saying – rationality in the House of Morons!!! Clearly I’m deluded.

Re: fy18 The month opening price ia a big issue. Needs to get above it by month close. If not, shorters or booking of profits will be lurking. However a break above the month open 're 230, would change that

Re: fy18 Think I might join you with these. Huge divvy, no debt, decent customer feedback on Trust Pilot, key players with enough skin in the game and an uber quiet BB on here indicating a business quietly progressing. Time to replace SSE in the Alphabet ISA in time for results Tuesday.

Re: fy18 Yet another very solid set of results. Despite extreme weather, world cup & the general malaise affecting so much of UK retail. Where would this be if a/ UK plc were doing anything other than bump along the bottom & b/ anyone had confidence in buying shares. Well I’ll keep taking my +10% dy. Even at the current sp the dy is way better than bank savings or indeed most other shares. Given SCS are ungeared it’ll be hard for them to go bust.

Re: interims V sound set of results. Either this operationally implodes h2 or Mr Mkt has got this badly wrong. We shall see.

Re: Periodic reminder It's a negative working capital model. Always has been & always flagged as such in the a/c. Common in retail.

ScS annual reports 2002 - 2007 the way. I still have hard copies of the ScS annual reports 2002-2007/8. I keep them for reference to watch how it plays out again.(These reports seem to have been removed from the internet.)The guys still running this 'business' have made out very well though, no problems for them.

Periodic reminder Periodic reminder:There is no shareholder cash. The entire cash balance and more, is fully off set by what is owed to the Sofa manufacturers for orders already placed.(Annual report: Page 70 Notes 14 and note 15)This business runs on fresh air and a pray. One small blip in sales and its over.(This 'business' has only about a 2% net margin even when economy is going well. Absolutely cut throat market with zero pricing power.)

Not too sure Not too sure whether I feel comfortable with the Director's saleof his option shares. Not a huge amount involved, but nonethelesshe wanted the shares sold.ws

Re: h1 IMS This ship appears to be able to keep on sailing steady through economic turmoil. Very juicy dividend, and looking assured! ws

malj1 31 Jan 2018

Re: h1 IMS Well that was a dull IMS. That’s what we like! No profit warning, just grinding out the numbers. Not brilliant but there again not bad & @ £2-10 throwing off a dy ca 7.5% net of tax. I’ll hold. I suspect having a downmarket franchise positions them firmly into first time buyer / new build territory. Also some competitors have gone splat – Darwinian economics.

RNS See today's RNS. The transaction falls under 'related party transaction',yet no independent/advisers opinion was obtained, is that unusual?ws

Re: Resilient cash cow... / share price I suspect the doubts are around SCS' HoF franchise.

Re: Resilient cash cow... / share price Share price not firm/stable (last week down to 200p, then uo again to 224p, today down again by 5p), makes one wonder whether doubts exist about SCS's current trading-performance.ws

malj1 23 Nov 2017

Re: Resilient cash cow... Yes. Agree. Post budget sales of new build will continue to grow. New build homes are empty of 'stuff' & FTBs don't own any 'stuff.' So they need filling. How many homes do you know that don't have sofas?
