Re: Consolidation Does anyone actually believe a single word printed in the Mail? Paddy Power is the most innovative company in the sector. There is absolutely no way it would bid for the worst betting company on the market (compare the movement in share price for both companies over the last five years).

Re: Consolidation Isn't this like Virgin Trains buying airline landing slots so it can compete with itself for passengers on the London to Manchester route? At least the Mail will now have more space to moan about things now they can't print their quarterly Paddy Power to buy Ladbrokes "news".

Consolidation [link] this likely to become like the tobacco industry?Controlled by a few players despite being hated by the purists?Games - I guess there is a long way to go before we reach that point.

Re: CFO sells more stock Topped up at 100 so should be safe for games to flog off his shares before they bomb!My logic is that this is a sort of Each Way bet that should eventually go back to a £1 one day or alternatively be a nice defensive stock for the next recession. I still think that most Coral shops look like flea-pits and Ladbrokes are trading insolently. Obviously, from the look of the book of investors, I must be talking rubbish so a few more shares are probably worth the risk.

Re: CFO sells more stock This is a question borne of my own ignorance rather than suggesting that anything is dodgy:Can a SFO buy and sell his own company shares when he may be aware of information that is not available to the market? If, for example, he was aware of possible problems facing the reverse takeover could this be possibly interpreted as being insider trading ? If this statement has any basis in fact it would imply that someone who is fully versed with the situation is NOT aware of any problems, so it might be worth holding on. For what it is worth, I am impressed with the Coral figures so will be topping up at the start of next week. As soon as this happens the SP will probably plummet !

CFO sells more stock 17-Aug-15  Sell Ian Bull 105.88p 121,615 £128,765.96 This is a reasonable chunk of his £850K's worth.Never great when the CFO offloads. I'm thinking of taking a hefty loss here and saying good bye. Anyone see any light at the end here?Games

Coral Results "GALA CORAL posted an strong set of results for the third quarter of the financial year, with Ebitda [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation], up eight per cent compared to the same period last year.Total group revenue for the 12-week period ending July 4 was £65.7 million, a rise of £5.1m, despite the new taxation regime which cost the firm £12.9m.The online and retail divisions performed well, with online Ebitda of £17.1m a rise of 28 per cent [£3.7m]. Coral Connect - which allows customers to bet online but pick up their winnings in a Coral branch - also continued to grow, now accounting for over 40 per cent of online revenue."Astonishing results, in view of comparisons with LAD and WMH. Looks like I'm wrong about one thing; perhaps someone else might make a play for Coral.

Re: Numis ‘"Once the Competition and Markets Authority stance is understood there is potential for another bidder to make an approach for Ladbrokes, or Coral. In the meantime we believe the shares are unlikely to make progress, in our view, and reiterate our “hold” recommendation while reducing our target price.’ " A slight problem or two with this line of argument-!) If Competition and Markets Authority do not give a clear go ahead within the next few months then it is safe to assume LAD will probably show a loss for H2. How will this effect the dynamics of a reverse takeover?2) LAD will be a zombie company which only be able to take few, if any, financial decisions.3) In Chatham (Kent) High Street a Ladbrokes almost faces a Corals. Clearly one of these will shut. Not only will this stress the staff and lose a lot of goodwill but it will also cause a headache to those disposing of the unwanted lease in a road full of pound shops and charity shops. Replicate this about a thousand times and you have real problems.4) Who exactly would want to bid for LAD and/or compete with the Coral merger? And why? They couldn't be bothered when LAD showed a profit and weren't involved in complicated legal and financial arrangements so why the great hope now?5) There still exists a risk of new legislation . A £2 max on FOTs would wipe out much of both group's estate and expose a possible joint venture with very few assets. The digital business may well improve in the short term, but WMH have been pouring tens of millions into advancing the whole medium. LAD and Coral are having to rely on expensive marketing just to stand still. The BET 365 model will not work now as that is only profitable today because of what they did 10 years ago.I still think that something else is going on because the alternative is similar to two drunks leaning on each other in the centre of the dance floor as the band concludes the last tune of the night.

Re: Numis LADBROKES CUT TO UNDERPERFORM VS HOLD AT JEFFERIES

Hawk Eye32 12 Aug 2015

Re: Numis It does not look good news for PI for some long time, very pleased to be out with nice profit after just three months. Quite happy to be sat on touch line rather than on field of play. Good luck to all still holding.

Numis From Citywire:"Ladbrokes won’t make progress until green light on CoralBookmakers Ladbrokes (LAD) has already announced its merger with Coral so its half-year results are little more than formality.Numis analyst Ivor Jones reiterated his ‘hold’ recommendation and lowered the target price from 140p to 110p. Shares in the business fell 0.9% to 109.1p yesterday.‘Ladbrokes published headline interim results on 24 July when it announced the capital raising, profits warning, dividend cut, new strategy and merger with Coral. [The] interim results announcement is therefore something of a formality,’ he said.‘One the Competition and Markets Authority stance is understood there is potential for another bidder to make an approach for Ladbrokes, or Coral. In the meantime we believe the shares are unlikely to make progress, in our view, and reiterate our “hold” recommendation while reducing our target price.’ "
