Results Yep probably true that most of these spreadbetters by number are small players, however, isn’t that probably out in the wash now for IG at least, given that there was a relatively small drop in revenue, despite a 15% fall in numbers of clients? And remember this is only in the ESMA region which isn’t the biggest growth area for IG, as a world wide company. It stated in the results that 69% of the ESMA region revenue was now coming from professional clients. This implies that a lot of the clients that can not afford to be professional could well have been flushed out, no? On the overall number projected for this year, the company has pencilled in earnings per share of some 52.3p against a consensus of 50.9. Given the dividend is 43p, this is still a cover of 1.2X. Also isn’t it that most of IG’s business is quickly converted to cash, my assumption without checking, it’s fair to say that holding the dividend at current levels is conservative and prudent. The new Felix lady is confident, well she would say that of course, of a return to growth in 2019. I’m inclined to start believing her - call me Mr Gullible if you will lol! Games – what to you think Mrs Robinson, is the lady for turning from short to long yet?

Results professional status is out of reach for most spreadbetters due to the size of investments assets needed to be held etc. Take a look at Plus500 - these guys will be the nxt to show the earnings are lower due to Clients not being able to risk/ lose as much due to leverage change

Gamesinvestor1 22 Jan 2019

Results Interesting feedback - you think the situation will get a lot worse then Dustin? If the system is only just making an impact, it could be that there is a lot more that will reduce the earnings here, or is it that IG have done most of the donkey work in transitioning more clients onto professional status and exempt from this? Results financials are now coming thru from the spreadbetters that show the impact of the Regulator involvement last year significantly limiting the size of leverage (& therefore losses are now massively smaller) & shining the light on the different methods employed to achieve upto 89% of clients losing (eg limiting stop order minimum placement, chart screens difficult to move around, pricing & charges)…have been shorting all of them since; there’s a few more which will have similar results coming out if you look around

Results Yes it’s getting there - it’s last low was 534 – 590 as I type and based on the revised lower earnings the P/E is sitting at around 11. There could be more pain given the new rules have only just kicked in. The divi is ex-this month but it’s the smaller of the two so not sure that’s a reason to jump back in just yet. If we have another wave of hysteria of the EU and Brexit, it could reach new lows again in which case it’s worth a punt, given it’s low overheads, no pension and naff all debt. It’s also going to see some of it’s competitors fall by the way side for sure. Games

Results Same here games, still out. But it isn’t badly priced considering earnings and financial strength.
