Re: Special dividend We had a Consolidation (reverse split)This is a mandatory event in which the number of shares a shareholder owns is reduced and the nominal value increases proportionately.Coincidentally we were paid a dividend, which reduced the value of the shares by the same amount.Hence, you now hold fewer shares and a pile of cash, total value roughly th same as before. I would just like to know what it was all about since there seems to be no obvious benefit to investors.

Re: Special dividend This has been called a dividend.....is it a dividend or a capital repayment?I ask as I have already used my capital gains zero allowance and don't want to pay CGTax.Also I am not sure now what my gain per share is!

Special dividend Can someone please explain the purpose of the recent special dividend?I have received cash to the value of shares lost in the 6 for 7 exchange. The SP is virtually unchanged. If I want to restore my portfolio to the same number of shares it will cost me dealing charges and tax to get them, so effectively it has cost me money.Effectively my shares were sold from under me and dressed up as a dividend payment. Amazing.

Re: Going nicely... 5 year return may be good but we are still 50-60p down on this date last year which more than wipes out the divi.I'm still holding, and pleased with the rise over the last week, but would have done better by selling last year. There have been much lower entry points during the year.

Going nicely... Surprising not to see more comment on this share which has done me proud, with the latest results announced, up around 70% on my average entry price of 260p. With a yield over 5% and a well managed portfolio of assets under management this is one to tuck away for the long term .
