Iain Conn, Group Chief Executive Officer, to step down from Centrica plc Sorry to hear that story Trading up. There are very few shares that you can buy and forget about. Even “never sell” Shell can be volatile but it does tend to bounce back again. The stories about the Big Six overcharging loyal custermers were widely publicised. I hope that your wife invested in other shares too that have done better. Cheers, Frog

Iain Conn, Group Chief Executive Officer, to step down from Centrica plc frog my dear wife didn’t ‘pile’ in when she bought a chunk of CNA ten years ago from her modest local govt pension lump sum. she thought it would be a safe long term investment, paying a good dividend, and she was content to lock it away and forget about it. Now looking at her investment fallen to near zero she is bewildered. and Conn and the Board responsible for this horrendous situation talk about ‘sustainability’ and ‘meeting the challenge.’ Little wonder that many small PI’s are sickened by this. Sadly it presents Comrades McDonnell and Corbyn with a cast iron case to refute private ownership of utilities and indeed any other form of public share ownership.

Buy at 74.95 Hi @jackdawsson, It is one of the reasons that made me decide to get back to CNA. But I sold my TSG shares not GKP to do that! In this climate everybody seems to run for safety like precious metals or JPY! But with china hitting back hard by devaluing the Yuan and instructing the state owned companies to reduce their imports of US agricultural products could make Mr DT change his mind? We’ll see by the 2nd of Sept I think. Best Regards @ValueSeeker8

Buy at 74.95 Hi @ValueSeeker8, Seems a good entry. I also wouldn’t worry too much about trying to find floors in this volatile climate. Since Trump’s tweets about raising new tariffs on China late last week, markets have been in near panic mode. Mining stocks particularly badly hit. That’s telling as it often betokens growing fears of a possible global recession if Trump starts new tariff wars. FWIW, I think he won’t go that far with an election year ahead. It would stain his record on the economy & damage his chances of a 2nd term. But just the growing fear of the very possibility seems to be leading global markets currently. Today again, nearly everything badly hit. - Regards.

Buy at 74.95 Took the plunge today at just under 70.7 p (71.12 inc. costs). It is almost 11 months since I sold these at considerably higher price. So, managed to reduce my holding by 18% and claimed the 12 p missed dividends plus more cash to reduce my previous losses with this sell and buy sequence. I hope I finally found the bottom but who knows! Will hold for the 7% yield if it is stable enough, otherwise may exit again hopefully with some profit this time! Best Regards @ValueSeeker8

Iain Conn, Group Chief Executive Officer, to step down from Centrica plc I might just comment that shareholders were happy to pile in while CNA was at peak in ripping off its customers. Eventually customers got the hang of switching and CNA was left fat and unable to cope with its reducing circumstances and overall inefficiency. Only themselves to blame. Cheers, Frog in a tree

Iain Conn, Group Chief Executive Officer, to step down from Centrica plc ValueSeeker8: Iain Conn, Group Chief Executive Officer, has agreed with the Board “agreed” lmao! Wish his reward resulted in a size 12 being surgically removed from his backside, but it’ll doubtless be yet another multi £m wedge.

Buy at 74.95 jackdawsson: I just feel that things probably can’t get much worse with this stock…so will be prepared to hold a while if necessary. That was my thinking last time I bought some tranches! Not unduly fussed about my SIPP as earning interest, but tying up my ISAs. I can’t see the sp falling much more now but won’t buy as am already holding enough. If I was flat, I would def be buying - but good luck to you, js. Plusses; Corbyn now looks unelectable Conn is going at last Another (v significant) div cut Surely they can’t lose any more customers? Minuses; McDonnell, the real danger man, could replace Corbyn Conn stays around for another year No political gain for any party removing the price cap Still no visible signs of any improvement, just more bad news

Buy at 74.95 Hi @jackdawsson, Wish the best of luck with your CNA purchase. I was watching it all day!! I was very tempted at 76 p! But, quite literally, slapped myself and said don’t catch a falling knife! That dividend cut to 5 p (although quite good for the company) is way below anybody’s expectation. And no one thought the statuary loss of £550 m or Ian Conn would step down! Then just watched the SP drifting down 75 … 74 … and close at 73.58. Too scared to get in tbh! So, I’ll just watch from the sidelines until I am more comfortable, no rush. Best Regards @ValueSeeker8

Buy at 74.95 regardless: Good Luck Jack Honestly, the of type of Person I am here, I am gutted to see British Gas shares so low even though I not a holder any more Fingers crossed mate Hi Regardless, Thanks. Typically enough one never gets in at the exact low, but we’ll see how it goes over a longer timeframe. Agreed. I certainly feel for all those CNA holders from much higher up. For them it’s been one disappointment after another. Today another huge financial blow. A few reasons for it: including poor leadership, changes across the energy sector & growing political risks all coming together. Usually being the first to put up prices hasn’t helped. A main reason for huge customer outflows. Then they put up prices yet again to compensate for losing customers & just find themselves in a deeper hole. But I just feel that things can’t get much worse with this stock & a lot of negatives may be priced in. But I could also be wrong, so will be prepared to hold a while if necessary. So it goes. - Regards.

Buy at 74.95 Bought at 74.95. I’ve watched this for a while & traded it successfully before. Latter counts for nothing of course. Could easily go much lower on sentiment, but after today’s huge drop I feel there’ll be some upside here when things calm down. Reasons mostly technical. Today’s open 83.55 left a gap from yesterday’s close at 90.84. Looking ahead, debt-reduction plans & change of CEO also seem distinct positives. Target modest. Looking for about 10%, so circa 83+ to 85 probably sees me out. - GLA.
