Santander Bad Press Not forgetting the bad press that Santander has received lately .Even I was prevented from withdrawing more than 2000GBP from my own account by my own bank with money laundering given as the excuse. How I could money launder my own money beats me.Santander used to be a good bank but not any more.

Re: Santander price drop "Furthermore - the Spain business is only 18% of the total business - the company name is misleading (like HSBC being a Hong Kong bank)."Have you discounted Banco Popular with this? The figures might have changed some what with the aquisition. However, look where Santander is, U.S. sub-prime auto loans, look at Argentina on the brink, UK mortgages. Bridgewater, are not heavily shorting this share for nothing!

Re: Santander price drop I'm going to wait until Thursday, I think the court case starts then....that could be a real blow on top of Italy's woes.If I miss out, so what. There's always another bus coming round the corner..unless you live in the countryside. Then it's same time next week.Trump thinks Germany has had it easy for ever, the Italians want a populist Government and who could blame them. They've had no growth for the last 20 years. Spanish Socialist want power at any price...even if it means concessions to the sepratists and the French, well they are French. They'll want what ever Germany tells them. I'm expecting there going to be plenty of chances over the summer, EAT and IEUR are are also on my summer watch list. If this all keeps up. We might just go back to worrying about EM and forget all about Europe. Who really knows. DL

Re: Santander price drop Peripheral EU bond yields have risen sharply due to the Italy situation.I think it is overdone as Spain is not talking about leaving the euro and there will be a correction downwards (in the Spain bond yield).Furthermore - the Spain business is only 18% of the total business - the company name is misleading (like HSBC being a Hong Kong bank). The move has been overdone and I have picked up some more today.

firm facts 29 May 2018

Santander price drop It's all to do with EU uncertainty. Italy is in a financial mess as usual and the love affair in Spain with the new leftist political party whose leader prided himself in living with the masses in an apartment in Spain is over because he's bought a luxury villa with a pool with his girlfriend. Then there's Hungary falling out with immigrants and Greece in a huge financial mess. Europe is imploding.

Re: Spain´s huge pension problem "Those that have contributed nothing.....get nothing. I prefer the Spanish system"So do the Conservatives the way things are going!!!Let's just go back 150 year eh! Lets send kids up the chimneys and to work in the mills and with no education. Lets also put a stop to them "wimmin" voting! Yeh right! I appreciate that we are all concerned about the scroungers out there in society but there are also a lot of people out there who can't find proper 40 hour a week full time work on a decent living wage. And people who can't work for various reasons.I am just glad I am not one of them!

Re: $1.2bn short against, Santander! I've had similar success with another Spanish Bank .....BBVA Compass (the USA subsidiary).

Re: $1.2bn short against, Santander! This is the same Hardcore Uproar, who has been trying his level best, over the years to drive the price down with 'doom and gloom' stories about Spanish and Italian banks, economies, and alike....... Proper investment is where one buys in and exits at a profit; something that many of us, have been successful in achieving with BNC; and probably will continue to do so. M.G.
