2nd RNS at VRS ...another example .... Versarien plc("Versarien" or the "Company"Agreement with Arrow GreenTechVersarien plc (AIM: VRS), the advanced materials engineering group, is pleased to announce that it has signed a wide ranging agreement with Arrow GreenTech Ltd ("Arrow GreenTech", an Indian listed company, covering a variety of the Company's graphene products and activities (the "Agreement".Arrow GreenTech is an India-based holding company who are a leading global manufacturer of cast water-soluble film, providing solutions and applications for sectors including agrochemicals, construction, chemical, embroidery, health & hygiene and 3D printing. Additionally, Arrow GreenTech have patented technology that is used in secure products such as passports, bank notes and security paper. In summary the Agreement covers four main areas:· Versarien and Arrow GreenTech have entered into an exclusive commercial arrangement for the supply of the Company's propriety Graphinks (graphene inks) to Arrow GreenTech, for onward supply to the water-soluble film market world-wide;· Versarien and Arrow GreenTech have agreed to collaborate on exploring the potential benefits of using graphene within security threads for banknotes and passports on a named-exclusive basis;· Arrow GreenTech will act as the Company's exclusive agent for the supply of graphene to the tyre and associated rubber sectors in India. This will be subject to the terms of a separate sales agency agreement; and· Versarien will grant Arrow GreenTech the right of first refusal to enter into discussions regarding any future plans for the Company to create a manufacturing facility in India. Those discussions may include the creation of a joint venture company or the right to operate under a license granted from the Company. Commenting Shilpan Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, Arrow GreenTech, said: "Graphene is the new wonder material of this century and Arrow GreenTech is happy to be collaborating with the leader in this technology, creating stakeholder value for both Arrow GreenTech and Versarian. Arrow GreenTech is particularly interested in embedding graphene in cast PVA films and sees a large number of potential end uses in various industries. Graphene is an environmentally friendly product, especially when compared to carbon black, and maximum environmental care has always been the core of our company." Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, commented: "We are delighted to have entered into this Agreement with Arrow GreenTech, providing both a strong channel for our Graphinks into the fast growing water soluble film market and, more widely, a strong partner for Versarien in India."In particular, the use of water soluble, bio compostable thin films are fast growing and Arrow GreenTech have globally applicable technology. With the addition of our Graphinks we aim to enable the creation of new and innovative solutions for a variety of end markets."We look forward to providing further updates as our relationship with Arrow GreenTech develops alongside the others we are establishing globally."SAGE

RNS at VRS ...as an example of directions Versarien plc("Versarien" or the "Company"Graphinks Product Launch Versarien plc (AIM: VRS), the advanced materials engineering group, is pleased to announce the formal launch of Graphinks, the latest addition to Versarien's range of commercially available 2D materials. Graphinks has recently been trademarked by Versarien and is the brand under which the Company's range of proprietary graphene inks will be marketed. Produced by the Company's subsidiary Cambridge Graphene, Graphinks is a range of high performance, electrically conductive, graphene inks suitable for a wide range of printing processes, substrates and applications, including flexible electronics and antennas. Graphinks are produced using a scalable production process, developed at the Cambridge Graphene Centre, University of Cambridge. The production process allows for a range of ink formulations to be manufactured in order to meet the requirements of different printing methods and substrates. Graphinks are aqueous, environmentally friendly and non-toxic. Graphinks is the latest formal addition to Versarien's high performance 2D material product range, alongside Nanane, a high purity, low defect graphene and Hexotene, a few layer hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanoplatelet powder with large lateral dimensions. The range is further supported by few layer graphene and graphene oxide powders suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. Commenting, Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien stated: "The introduction of Graphinks into our stable of 2D materials further widens the ability of Versarien to deliver innovative solutions for industry. There are numerous potential applications for Graphinks, which can be customised to meet the individual requirements of customers, and we anticipate substantial commercial demand."SAGE

The time has come ..... from Smallholding on Versarien bb .....[link] material graphene could be next battery breakthroughThe next big thing for batteries may have fizzled out years ago.Remember graphene? The advanced material -- made up of a lattice of carbon atoms -- may be poised for a comeback, albeit a quiet one, Bloomberg New Energy Finance analyst Julia Attwood said in a presentation at the BNEF Future of Energy Summit on Tuesday. Researchers are studying ways to use graphene in batteries, and the material has the potential to significantly boost performance in a much-needed technology.Super lightweight, highly conductive of heat and electricity and, pound for pound, stronger than steel, it was all the rage a decade ago. In 2010, the scientists who first extracted it won the Nobel Prize in Physics. “The perfect atomic lattice,” the announcement gushed.Fame and fortune followed. Money poured in, patent filings skyrocketed and hopes were raised that graphene could change everything from electronics to carbon-fiber composites to biotechnology. Then, just as fast as the hype came, it stopped as the supply chain was difficult and the material expensive to produce.Once-hot material graphene could be next battery breakthrough“Graphene was supposed to be everything,” Attwood, an emerging technologies analyst, said in an interview last week. “It really is suffering from people thinking it’s not living up to its potential, which isn’t quite true.”While graphene wasn’t yet ready for the big time then -- for one thing, it’s still pretty expensive to process -- researchers have quietly advanced the technology in recent years and it’s starting to make inroads in energy storage. There, it can help battery makers -- who have already invested billions of dollars into mass-production techniques aimed at cutting costs -- achieve new improvements in both charging times and storage capacity. In November, the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology announced that its researchers had developed a “graphene ball,” a material that would allow lithium-ion batteries to charge five times faster and have 45 percent more capacity. That alone could have big impact on both consumer electronics and the automotive industries.“People are concerned about the comparison of filling up the gas tank and charging your car battery,” Attwood said. “Suddenly that’s not a problem because you only have to stop for 10 minutes and you can get another 200, 300 miles out of your car.”Given its wild ride in the past decade, graphene also offers a unique case study in how startups in emerging technologies can withstand fickle public interest. One company, Skeleton Technologies, of Estonia, has zeroed in on energy storage -- “an industry that needs innovation at any cost,” Attwood says. Another company, Applied Graphene Materials, raised $18 million in an initial public offering. “Their stock price has dropped off a lot, but they’re an established name in the industry now and are ready to ride a graphene resurgence,” Attwood said. One day, graphene might enable all sorts of cool gadgets -- from bendy phones to magazines that connect to the Internet. Until then, it’ll probably keep on improving things quietly, very differently from its moment in the limelight a decade ago.“I actually quite like that it will change a lot of stuff without us noticing,” Attwood said. “That’s what a good material is. It shouldn’t be obvious in its improvements. It should be part of the furniture, literally.”SAGE

CEO leaves for no good reason Unexpected retirement of the CEO announced today. No successor lined up.Some dreadful corporate waffle in the RNS announcement.Either he smelt something fishy that they don’t want investors to know, or it is merely incompetent PR.
